People love drama. Facebookers, via the "Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory", simply don't believe it's real or could happen to them, so to them it's just another game show.
/b/ has an hero who's bringing anarchy, so of course they're as pleased as punch.

He's still leaving behind three kids whose father will always be known as a murderer. Imagine what that's going to do to the rest of their lives.

Raoul can't go any further now, he is just waiting to be shot, and then held aloft by his adoring fans...who will forget about him within the week.

Yeah, I was reading a thread about this yesterday. Some guy was commenting about how the police deserved to die for being thuggish bullies who don't care about the people, how the "slag" in question deserved to die for stopping Moat from seeing his kids, and how anyone in the thread who disagreed with him was a "stupid useless student ****" who was probably "never even snogged a bird". Silly bastard.

I still reckon this is partly because of our own morbid desire to be that lawless badass going around bringing havok and destruction as we see fit but since we know that's illegal we settle instead for worshipping the people who do it.

The scary thing is he isn't as crazy as most of the gun-nuts that go around.

In his letter he admits that he knows he is crazy and messed up, whereas most crazies think they are sane, Thus leaving that he is not AS crazy as others and is less likley to make crazy mistakes and judgement calls. And that is some scary shit right there.

Also, He's going for the police because his ex girlfriends new BF said he was a Cop (even though he wasn't)
