And now we can all breathe a sigh of relief! Now we can hope that (number one pick) Nolan North is ended up cast as the movie star or (second pick) James Roday! Here's to hoping.
As long as it's not Fillion who get's the part I'll be happy

This sounds very much like they heard the fan outcry and started an immediate backpedal. But we'll see.

... someone who doesn't like Nathan Fillion? Inconceivable!

OT: Yippee for not doing the whole 'family backstory' thing, but there's this niggling sensation I have that no matter what they do, it'll end up pulling a Tron; looks great, but doesn't have a whisper of character to it.

Mark Wahlberg wasn't the problem, it was the ideas running around about the storyline.

Which have apparently been axed or never were or have not yet come pass or whatever.

Good.

I just don't get what the big deal is with Nathan Fillion, I have yet to see him in a good television show or movie, and i just can't understand the appeal

I want someone completely unknown to play the part of Nathan Drake, because having someone famous would just ruin it cause they dont look the part or feel the part due to previous movies they have been in..

My vote... Johnny Knoxville!

Somehow i feel that he would be better suited for this job than Wahlberg..

Hooray, those news are so... so... meaningless.

Russel is still a director who assaults his actors and Uncharted still DOES NOT need to be made into a movie.

This. I think they're just scared of the reaction and wants to pretend they didn't screw up.
I really like Nathan Fillion, and I'm sure he'd be right for the part, but Nolan North for me!

Yeah and I thought it was garbage, the only reason I sat through it was so I wouldn't piss off my girlfriend

I'm not saying YOU shouldn't be a fan of Fillion, I'm just trying to figure out why my entire D&D group, and almost everyone on this forum think he's the greatest thing to happen to the geek subculture since Han Solo

And I'm not saying you should enjoy it, that's why I said what I said. And I don't think he's the best thing evar!1, I just liked him in Firefly. That said, I liked Adam Baldwin for example a lot more. Jaynestown is one of my favourite episodes. But I'm as well surprised at his popularity. He's a really great actor with one or two great parts, but that's it.

Sorry it's just that when I state that I'm not a fan of the guy I usually have people jump down my throat about it.

Well, some people tend to forget basic human interaction when it comes to these kind of stuff. But you have to admit that he's a great actor?

Oh he's obviously an OK actor, I mean he has a job, but nothing about him really engages me and makes me want to keep watching, now that one woman who played the hooker on Firefly...

I really like him as an actor, Mal's somehow both funny, suave and agressive. I really like that in a character, and Fillion portrays it well. And you're talking about Inara, and she's a companion. Just nitpicking, but she'd want me to :p

Ah, each to his own. I reckon he was great in Firefly. If you haven't watched it at all, it's well worth checking out and if you've watched it and not liked it then well just have to agree to disagree.

EDIT: Ah, I read above that you have watched Firefly and disliked it. That's pretty different. Fair play.

Best day ever.

Now it's just a matter of waiting to hear how they're actually going to fuck it up.

-m
The same way they fuck up every other video game-based movie: bad writing and abbreviated story. Maybe sooner or later Hollywood will catch on to the fact that jamming a ten-hour experience into a two-hour form can't be done without stripping down every aspect of the original.
ahhh but it can. You just create a simmilar story sharing the tone and themes of the original, much like prince of persia (which is the first Not Bad videogame film, its not good either mind you its just neutral)
2 things.

1)The Prince of Persia movie was terrible. Absolutely dreadful.

2) If the best way to make a videogame-based movie is to simplify and abbreviate the story, then perhaps they shouldn't be made. Leave works of art to their respective mediums.
