I recently found a link to this site that randomly generates spaceships based on what "seed" you give it (like how Minecraft makes worlds). Most of the ships it makes aren't that good but I think it shows potential and thought it might be of interest.

The best 4 ships I've found so far are:
Wolf
Serpent
Viper
Archer (more debatable than the others)
EDIT: Leopard

I think you can also save them as editable models but as my computer has no modelling tools I cannot confirm this

NOTE: Site seems a bit laggy and may freeze for a second or two when generating more complex ships

EDIT: Link added because I am a fucking moron http://ship.shapewright.com/

Oi, apparently my computer doesn't support WebGL. I'll try to update my driver and come back to this thread.

"Your browser doesn't support WebGL
Find out how to get WebGL here"

I'm sure that could be a very interesting ship, unfortunately I will never see it :'(

Well, it just happened to build me a ship with a gun facing directly into the engine.

Ooo, thanks for the link. Only tried a couple of strings but I like the look of this one. xD

Edit: Oh gawd! Just made a ship, rotated it then realised it was kinda in the shape of a person with... Oh, just see for yourself. http://ship.shapewright.com/?name=Bountiful+Harvest

"Centipede" is a pretty interesting one and "Obelisk" results in a ship that looks almost identical to the Movers from Homeworld 2
