Self evident title is self evident.

But seriously, I'm looking for a game where you play as a controller-type character. Like, a game where you're a Necromancer controlling hordes of the dead and charging into battle.

And I feel like an idiot for forgetting the name of the Mount and Blade mod that was basically what I was looking for, except it was WAY more dark than what I'm comfortable posting on the internet. (Edit: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,100545.0.html)

Two Worlds 2.

My personal game has me leading an army of nine high-leveled undead and pretty much just sitting there while they get to work.

Captcha:

Try two:

Seriously, are these guys on drugs or something?

Yeah, Two Worlds 2 would have what you're looking for. In fact, you can literally make just about any kind of spell you want. It's even in the Guinness Book of World Records for most in-depth spell creation.

Ok, Two Worlds 2. Any others, perhaps easily attainable on PC?

Also, I found the mod I was talking about!

Well if you're into online rpg then try out Guild Wars since one of the class is Nercomancer. One of their skills is making minions therefore becoming a minion master.

Isn't Overlord the exact kind of game you are looking for?
I haven't played it myself, but from what I understand, you are an unholy overseer that sends hoards of minions to kill and/or be killed.
The Arthas campaign of WC3 Frozen Throne is also the same.
D2 has a very fun Necromancer in it as well.

In Diablo 2, summoner-type Necromancers are fun.

If you play multiplayer, just be prepared for people with slow computers to complain about how all your minions are making their FPS drop.

Ok, I can now explain why I wasn't satisfied with these. (After four months....)

I kinda wanted the whole Necromancer thing to be the point of the game, or at least the plot.

Like Stubbs the Zombie, except I couldn't play that because of reasons.

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines has some of the same 'over tones' of the necromancer sort though you don't actually play one.

Played all three.

I actually like Geneforge, it was a good series. Kinda went on longer than it needed, but whatever.
