This is going to be a bit ranty at the start so let me have my moment.

I have just came off of the game after playing it for quite a few hours straight, I rage quit the game.

I was having loads of fun at the start but the difficulty curve has gone from walking up the stairs to climbing fucking everest, I mean come on I went up to tier 2 on the game after completely finisheing tier 1 with perfection and found it challenging, but not impossible, now all of a sudden I've been dropped in it.

I played a drift event and the car went from handling fairly decent to handling like a blind man on a bike with no wheels in a hurricane, the slightest pressure on the steering would cause the car to spin out, I tried loads of different techniques like less throtle, more throtle, more brake, less brake, no brake hand brake and none really worked well.

Also another thing thats pisses me off on it is the fact if you fuck up, you have fucked up, maybe it's just me but I liked Grid and Dirt 2's rewind feature can't they just rip the feature off from them.

Apart from this though It is a brilliant game looks great, generally plays great and hasn't tried to put a story in the game so it's concentrating on driving.

Has anyone else had this problem and could give me any pointers? Also what do others think of the game?

Essentially, the key to getting good at this game is to stop thinking of it in the same way as the other Need for Speed games. It's a different sort of game, developed by a different sort of developer. Slightly Mad Studios, formerly known as Blimey! Studios, formerly developed the hardcore racing simulator games, GTR, GTR 2 and GT Legends. These games were highly unforgiving, because motorsport in general is unforgiving - people can easily die in a race, and that's part of the challenge when racing around a track in reality.

Need for Speed: Shift isn't as unforgiving as the GTR series, but it leans more towards the side of simulation gaming than the previous titles in the Need for Speed series, and moreso than GRID or DIRT 2. For that reason, it's not appropriate for Shift to adopt a rewind feature; motorsport is difficult, dangerous and unforgiving, and as former developers of racing simulators, they're never going to want you to forget that entirely.

If you fuck up in real life, you could end up flying up to the Pearly Gates with your racing overalls on fire. A game will never have this challenge, so it's hardly fair to criticise a game, developed by simulator developers, to have some sort of punishment for screwing up.

Need fo' speed? More like need to stop making sequels.
