I recently rented Need For Speed: Undercover even though it got mixed reviews and decided to give my thoughts. The game is fun, and it's an okay game, but it isn't great for a couple of reasons. One main reason, which may seem small but is important, is the onscreen mini-map. On some missions, the best path to take is represented by a yellow line on the minimap that your car follows along. The problem is that the map and the line are WAY TOO SMALL. There was one time-sensitive mission that I kept failing because I couldn't differentiate the off-ramp that I needed to take on the map from the main highway that I was on. Another issue is the rubberband AI. It annoys me that I can do 95% of the race almost perfectly with no collisions and be in the lead the whole time, then some in second when I clip a car. Dodging traffic is fun though and the graphics are good, and the locales varied. One problem is though that the lighting is so glarey (if that is a word) in some sections, that you essentially are flying blind. All in all, the game is fairly fun, and it is nice to have a storyline, no matter how nonsensical. If you love the need for speed games or want a fun arcade racer with some flaws, it is worth a rental, but I personally wouldn't buy it. 7/10
