Bayonetta can be played one handed, the feature was part of the games marketing if I remember correctly.

I've enjoyed Civ4, VVVVVV, and Pokemon all one-handed. That came out wrong.

I'm not sure if he plays Magic: The Gathering, but even if he doesn't the Duels of the Planeswalker games are easily played one handed. Even if he doesn't play, it has a good tutorial if it is something you think he'd be interested in.

Most of the ones I think of are turn based strategy games so they may or may not be for him. Still they're worth a look

X-Com (old but really awesome and easy to find)
Master of Orion 2 (also old but has the depth of an ocean)
Fate of the world
Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Victoria 2 (very hard games without victory conditions beyond how you want to change history)
Cthulhu saves the world (an old School and hilarious RPG)
Breath of Dead 7 (Cthulhu saves the worlds little brother)
Total war (any of them but Shogun 2 was my favorite)
Plants vs zombies (funny tower defense game that he might have missed when it was really popular)
Civilization (any of them)

Any of the Asian F2P MMOs. They are designed to be played while chain-smoking (I'm not kidding, that is a design parameter). The draw back is of course epic grind.

Time to develop a Civ addiction I think.

Heheheheheheheh. Heh.

They're very much an acquired taste, but ASCII rogulikes likes ADOM or Nethack don't use the mouse at all.

I came into this thread expecting different suggestions for games...
Escapist, I am disapoint.

But I imagine RTS games would work, most of them only really need a mouse, with hotkeys optionally.

Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes. Doesn't take a boss PC to run, and it can be played entirely with the mouse. As a matter of fact, same goes for a lot of turn-based strategy games on PC.

(Except the bit about your PC being boss in some cases.)

Now taking bets on how many posts until someone just reads the title and makes a lame joke.
Heh. Lame. I get it.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP yet as it was designed for iOS. Basically any point and click would be good, but if he absolutely needs action, Diablo/Torchlight is the way to go.

I once saw this guy who's arm was paralyzed use a modified Xbox controller to play call of duty 4. A solution like this for steam games would be a gamepad with a trackpad or other mouse input taped to it.

You can pick up nearly any arcade style racing game and control it with the arrow keys or WASD. You won't miss using a controller that much.

I have a friend who I do l4d2 with occasionally, who only has one arm. We play realism expert mode, and run & gun most of the levels. So I'm going to have to say that pretty much all games are possible if you put in enough effort.

Granted he's lived with it his whole life, so he likely has an advantage in that regard.

Games that are the easiest to play one handed though, I would say, are:

IL2 Sturmovik (Original or Cliffs of Dover) | Flight Sim

Starcraft 2 | A lot of the custom maps can be quite fun, and fairly easy to play laidback with one hand

Aventure games like, Monkey Islands, Space Quest, Kings Quest. Some of the newer ones like Gemini Rue, Sherlock Holmes collection.

Simplified RPGs that use turn based combat or are excessively easy. KOTOR 1&2. Arcanum, Fallout 1&2.

Turn based grand strategy games like Civilization, Hearts of Iron.

I'm sure racing games can also be played pretty easily one handed, but I really don't like racing games that much(I didn't even register my free copy of Dirt 3 or whatever, despite it having like a 50$ value) so you're on your own there.

As far as FPS games, you're going to have difficulty finding something easy to play. You could make a modified setup if you have a mouse with quite a few buttons, to make everything easier(IE RMB is run forwards rather than using WSAD). But strafing will still be a problem so I'd recommend single player or coop games only.

And, uhm, Bayonetta. Hey, it had to be said, right?
DAMMIT. Ninja'd :p

OT: pretty much every point and click game. I recommend Gemini Rue, Broken Sword, and the Blackwell series, all of which are conveniently found on Steam!

Violated Heroine >_>

Joking aside (or maybe not, I'm not in the place to judge your brother), Audiosurf is an excellent time killer, that combined with Acid Mothers Temple, and you got unlimited fun playtime.
Crusader Kings II it's a good choice too, you can manage most stuff in that game with just one hand, I mostly save my free hand to pause and resume.

He can play through at least the first half an hour of Final Fantasy XIII. Considering that I got that far by just pressing a single button over and over again, and after a point closing my eyes and just pointing the joystick forwards
