Need help finding an old sci fi movie.

Ok so, I keep remembering this really terrible sci fi/post apocalyptic movie I saw as a kid back in the 80s. I can't tell you much of anything about it, other than the big bad guy, was a dude wrapped in what looked like aluminum foil, who was mounted on a robotic arm. He had mechanical arms that kind of reminded me of Edward Scissorhands, and spoke in a reaaaaally low, gravely voice. He would be lifted around the area of his lair, literally on this mechanical arm, because he was some kind of evil cyborg or something It was sort of a bad rip off of Beyond Thunderdome. And if I recall correctly, he could drain life energy from people if they were hooked up to this machine, and he used it sort of vampiricly, to continue living.

Oh, and the hero had some badass tank/car thing that was his secret weapon to live in the wastes. It was basically some bit of military tech that he had, while everyone else was running around on cobbled together vehicles.

Anyone know this movie?

omg yes! That's it! I have to ask, how did you find it? Were you too, subjected to this film at a young and impressionable age? Or do you have mystic powers of B-Movie Fu?

Let's just say that my tastes in movies has . . . . developed over the years. Yeah, we'll go with that.

Actually, I really enjoyed bad, but don't take themselves seriously sci-fi flicks and this one was definitely bad and knew it. (I still do, but I won't tell my friends. I think I have them fooled.)

Your description immediately brought up the memory of the movie, but off the top of my head I could only remember that Molly Ringwald was in it. One short trip to imdb.com later and viola!

Heh, yeah I totally forgot she was in it, and that the badguy was Michael Ironsides. xD I just remembered him dressed in aluminum foil, growling like the Kurgen from Highlander, and moving around on a mechanical arm.

As for bad movies, yeah I enjoy them too, and that flick would be a great one for the Misties to riff on now that I think about it.

I know! I was actually expecting to not get any hits, given how vague my input was. xD But I should've trusted more in the bottomless well of pop culture knowledge that is the nerd culture. xD My faith is restored!
