It was SEVERAL years ago in which I was playing a PC game. I really want to find it and play it again but I can't remember the name of it nor find any info on Google or other such sites. I will try and describe the game the best I can for those of you who could help me...

It was an RPG in third person. Part of it took place in a ghetto looking area, very run down and semi-future/apocolyptic. It was some what linear as far as roaming went. Quests seemed to rely heavily on conversation as opposed to fighting etc. Portals were regularly used. I remember one specific instance in which I had to throw (junk/garbage) through some kind of portal prior to entering in order to proceed with the plot.

I realize this isn't much information as I don't remember much of it. It was a very interesting game at the time but it was rather difficult for me (I was just a kid at the time). Any information you could contribute towards my investigation would be incredible. Thank you.

Sounds almost like Jak II, but that game was a PS2 exclusive. I also want to say Star Wars Droidworks, but that may as well be E.T. for the Atari how far away it is from.... everything in games, basically.

Probably Planescape: Torment if it seemed like a run-down area. The Hive is the starting area, and it's not the nicest of places. Conversation is the main means of resolving matters in that game, there are many portals, and there's a plot-crucial one early on that you open by carrying some junk around with you.

It's a fantasy game, though, if a highly atypical one. Now go play it, and finish it this time, it's the best game ever.

Looking at the Wikipedia page... I think we have a winrar. :p

EDIT: That, or it is Planetscape: Torment.

Seems to be the universal answer. :/

Planescape Torment.

The throwing junk through the portal gave it away for me.

Here's a screenshot:

I'm dead certain that's your game.
Probably ninja'd though.

And yes, it's worth hunting down.
It's not just a game, it's an experience.

Easy to track down, only choice you need to make is Digital or Physical copy. :p

EDIT: Through Good Old Games, you actually get more...

Oh, choices. :p

Hell, you could even burn it to a disc for safe keeping so... best of all worlds. :/
