I remember my first real AD&D campaign and our DM had this amazing official TSR software that was a character generator, item database, dice roller, contained almost all the rules and intergrated everything quite fluidly even with the player's options additions and added community/custom data. It was some time ago and I've long forgotten the name of it and I couldn't turn up anything with a quickie on google. If I saw a screen shot of it I'd definately reconize it though.
