Need help identifying a drink

[2012 Wont Happen]

So a few weeks back a had a bunch of a brown drink simply labelled "Liquor". It was dark brown and excellent.

Does anybody here know where I could find more of it or who makes it?

Smell / flavour / strength / what mixer, if any, did it go with / was it like whiskey or rum?

It was 40 proof, smelled sort of like a whiskey. Tasted a little like root beer when mixed with orange juice.
