I'm trying to burn some DVDs and make my own menus and I have no clue where to start as far as DVD movie making software goes. What's good what's cheap and what works the best I have no clue what I should be looking for. I turn to the awesome members of the escapist, Please help.

DVD maker? What kind? Sorry, I kind of don't understand if you're into video editing, or simple ISO handling.

I'll give both as I seem to know where you're going with this. My personal recommendation for video editing goes to Windows Movie Maker and ISO burning has PowerISO. If you are on a Mac, then use iMovie. Both are easy to use and pretty slick. (Guessing you're a beginner)

If you've got Vista or 7 Home premium or above there is a Windows DVD Maker included on there somewhere that does an alright job of turning video files into DVDs. Only other thing I've tried is Total Video2DVD which has much better codec support if Windows DVD Maker doesn't like the video files you're importing...but that one costs money (there's a free trial but I don't remember whether it's time based or limited functionality or whatever).
