Hey all, I want to upgrade my PC, except I've no experience with hardware whatsoever. The two games I'll be wanting to play most is Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, preferably med-high settings.

Current specs:
- AMD Athlon II X3 440 processor
- 3GB DDR3 Ram
- 300 watt PSU
- 500 GB hard drive
- M2N68-LA (Narra6) motherboard
- No graphics card

If that's not enough info, http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02582355&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=4269956&prodTypeId=12454
That ^ is my computer

My budget is around £150

I was looking at getting an Nvidia GTX550 Ti graphics card, but my PSU isn't good enough. Could anyone recommend me a better PSU that'll run this graphics card? Will I be able to run these games with this graphics card and a better PSU, or will I need to buy anything else?

Or does anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Save up. To run battlefield at decent settings you'll need more RAM, a faster CPU and a better graphics card than the one you're going for.

Looks like your motherboard is limited to 95w tdp which will make it difficult to upgrade on that board. Someone else may know of a decent AMD chip at that rating, in which case you could just upgrade on that board. Otherwise it'll basically be a full overhaul

Is that a prefab pc? You'll need to start over to run BF3 or Skyrim.. New computer time for you.

I just saw this, you'll need to save up a bit. 150 pounds isn't enough for medium-high on Skyrim or BF3.

Huh, that's disappointing. Guess I'll be saving for a while longer then.
Thanks anyway
