I have various problems with my feet, making it incredibly hard and painful to run, jog and even walk. I have flat feet, collapsed arches and rolled ankles. I will have to get reconstruction surgery sometime in the next 5 years and I doubt I will be able to run even when everything is fixed. This pain causes problems for me in the excercise department, as I wish to burn some of the fat around my stomach region and I have been told that regular walking and cardio would help but it is far too painful for me. I cant afford an excercising machine or gym membership, however I do have a backyard pool.

Im 185cm's tall and around the 90s - 100s when it comes to weight (Kilograms)

What can I do to help burn my stomach fat without running, jogging, walking and cardio?
(No diet tips please, my problem is with excercising, I have worked out a diet. But if you know of any foods or supplements that may help then by all means post away)

Does swimming hurt/ache your feet at all? I can't be sure if it would or wouldn't, so I think it's a valid question to ask. I don't swim a whole lot but if you take the necessary steps, I believe it can actually help you lose a bit of weight here and there, but it won't compare to jogging or walking. This link [http://www.articlesbase.com/sports-and-fitness-articles/can-swimming-help-you-lose-weight-255225.html] goes into a bit more detail. :D

Have you considered biking, or does that fit into cardio for you? :3
I can definately swim without pain so I should give that a go. Should look for some aquatic excercises while im at it. I dont own a bike and I dont really know how to ride one XD

Definitely give swimming a go! it doesnt put much stress on the joints and is a great calorie burner.
I started swimming because, too, I have difficulty running due to a bad knee and swimming with front crawl legs was great rehab therapy for my leg muscles and general fitness xD

Good luck!

Try sit ups. If you have access to a gym, use a rowing machine.

[HEADING=2]JUGGLE![/HEADING]

If you can withstand standing, then juggling is great for burning of calories and whatnot, as juggling takes up a surprisingly large amount of energy, especially in more advanced parts of juggling (e.g., juggling 5 balls for 1 minute takes the equivalent amount of energy as 100 push up's to perform).

True, juggling generally involves arms and shoulders more than stomach muscles generally speaking, but some forms of juggling such as hoola-hoop (yes, it does count as a form of juggling) do use stomach muscles.

If you feel like this might be useful, pop me a PM and I can suggest a few websites and whatnot to help you get started :p

(I'm surprised at how many times juggling is a viable solution to problems, this is about the 3rd time I've suggested it as a solution now XD)

Swimming is extremely good cardio if you do it consistently, such as thirty minutes of lengths three times a week. To me, that sounds like your most valid option. So, keep to a reasonable diet (so no starving yourself as you won't have the energy to swim) and try lengths in your pool and hopefully you'll start to see a difference.

Oh, one thing though - there is no way to specifically target only stomach fat. If you're wanting to lose stomach fat, you're going to have to stick with the cardio which will burn body fat from all over the place. There's no way to tone or target certain areas of your body unless your body fat percentage is low enough to see the difference.
Absolutely.

If running/walking isn't an option for you, swimming is a great alternative. Not only can your feet tolerate it, but you have a pool in your backyard. This cuts out the excuse that it's too far, difficult or time consuming to get to.

Maintain a healthy diet, allowing yourself to binge from time to time, and swim at least three days a week. Water has higher density than air which means higher resistance, and in turn means that you'll tone up and burn calories faster. Your endurance will also increase at a faster rate than it would through running/walking.

Is your pool outdoors? If so, you'll have to find an alternative during the winter.

Sit-ups cause back pain for some people (for example, to me). Crunches might be safer.

Well, cardio is the only way you're going to burn that fat off.
The pool is your best bet, but you may also want to look at the rowing machine and an elliptical machine. I've got bum heels and bad knees and the elliptical is much better than running for me.

Like everyone here says cardio would be the best. Swimming definitely but not in a heated pool, you'll burn more calories in colder water. Now as we all know (or all should know) TARGETED weight loss doesn't exist. What you can do however is start off with cardio for your first month, then move onto building some muscle.

If you can't do many exercises on your feet, that's OK! All you need is a kettle weight or a form of free weight. Lay down with your legs extended and your body sitting up. Then instead of just doing regular sit ups bring the weight up with you then take it from the right and then to the left then back down with you.

If you can't handle running too well (depending on the degree of the pain you encounter) you can also try burpees. Or squats.

Of course changing your diet can help. I used to eat a lot of food, and a lot of fatty food at that, by cutting these things out I went from 187 pounds to now 156 pounds just by changing my eating habits... this was of course over the state of about 4 months BUT STILL it worked :p Mind you, it may not be as crazy as I had really packed on the pounds (lol) but it still works very well in conjunction with exercise. Remember, everything takes time, be patient, and put all you can into your workouts (all you can! not just some of it, if you want results faster you need to push your limits!!).

Hope some of this helped :) Good luck!!

In this situation the next best thing would be muscular endurance exercises, push ups, sit ups, yoga, palates. You would be surprised how much weight you can loose doing these types of exercises and how much it can tone your body.

Also get on a diet, one that you can stick with and shows good results, this will help as well.

You've got a backyard pool? The solution for your problems is right there. Swimming always has been the sport for people who are handicaped and need exercise. I recommend using a pullboy. This is a foam thing that floats, and can be put between the legs. That way you won't need your feed.
It's better to just join a swimming-club though. Say that you're not interested in competing in matches, and that you don't want to put to much stress on your feet. You'll be in top shape in no time.
