Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead are the ones I play. Then again, FPSs (I hate pluralizing genres) aren't my cup of tea.

This is a pretty wide net you're casting. Do you want something fast-paced, slow-paced, online, single-player.....??

Try the demo for ArmA 2, see if it's to your taste?

Doom 1&2; Quake 1, 2 & Live; Unreal; Marathon (Aleph One) 1, 2 & Infinity; Half-Life; Duke-Nukem 3D; Descent; Deus Ex; Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.

...well you may as well start with the classics.

Definately Operation Flashpoint/ArmA or their sequels then, they market themselves more as military simulators than shooters.

i was looking on the ArmA 2 and it didn't look like it was online or had a multiplayer.

Counter Strike: Scource, although its online-only, but you can play with bots, which isn't that bad...

OFP, OFP2 and ArmA all have multiplayer, so they should meet your needs if ArmA2 doesn't.

Operation Flashpoint/ArmA/ArmA 2, as said, are your best bets for modern-day realistic military shooters. ArmA 2 definitely has MP, according to the Bohemia Interactive wiki. Red Orchestra is, as I understand (as I've only ever played OpF, and then only a little), somewhat less realistic than Bohemia's titles, and is an older game based around Unreal 2.5 so it definitely looks less appealing at first glance, but it's a lot of fun nonetheless. (Especially tank warfare. Most realistic tank warfare I've ever encountered in a game. You can adjust your sights, shells can bounce off thick or sloped armour, reload times feel realistic (you can't fire every two seconds), etc.)
