Recently I got a shiny new computer, and naturally I want to put some games on it, and play them online, BUT when trying to automatically download the latest patch for a game (LOTR the battle for middle earth 2 ROTWK) a pop up appeared saying "You must have administrative rights to install a patch." I AM on the ONLY account, the admin one I should not be getting this, I tried to manually download patch but ROTWK keeps telling me I need to install the latest patch, I have no idea how to fix this what do I do??

EDIT: I am on windows 7

Try right-clicking and clicking run as administrator.
Vista and Windows 7 asks that question with files you downloaded off the net for security reasons, to avoid viruses being able to auto-run if you accidentally download one.

Start>Control Panel> User accounts> Turn User account control on/off> and untick and restart computer, this turns off the admin thing and won't prompt you to copy files etc.

EDIT: For the sake of curiosity whats the specs on your new pc? :)

You on Win7?

If so, you need to find the game launcher/.exe, right click on it, open it's properties, select the compatability tab and down the bottom is a line saying 'privilige level' or summat like that. Check the box for 'run as admin'. ta da! done

I could do remote support for you if your ok with that, specs is in start>run(or search)>dxdiag
umm UAC on/off should be there when you go on your account.
