Ohai guys. I can't access the internet on my computer.

Device manager shows that every network adapter is fucked. Yellow circle, black exlamation mark. This wouldn't be so bad if the driver was actually missing - I had to manually install drivers for this thing many a time before, because this computer came with vista and I downgraded it to XP.
So that isn't the problem. The problem is that the drivers are there, but they are corrupted. AKA, Code 39. But fucking Windows won't let me install the new driver, because it says "Oh, you already have this version, no need to update" even though the currently installed driver is of the same version, but also corrupted, and does absolutely nothing while my network adapter is still fucked up the bum.

I tried doing what the Internet tells me to do, that is, uninstalling the device, and then later reinstall it with my fresh driver so eagerly waiting on the USB, but Windows automatically installs the freaking corrupt one again.

In other words, I am in dire need of help.

Have you checked for a missing or bad ndis.sys file? That can cause all your adapters to go bad.

No I haven't. Where is that file supposed to be?

It's not the drivers on the usb that are corrupt are they? If not you've tried uninstalling the drivers from device manager? Have you tried rolling back or updating?

"but Windows automatically installs the freaking corrupt one again." this is strange, XP doesn't/shouldn't be automatically getting device drivers, unless it is the copy on the usb that is corrupt, try re-downloading the drivers from another computer and using a different usb or something.

Rolling back doesn't seem to work, updating is impossible because it says that it's the same version as the current one and therefore will not be installed. The copy on the usb is 100% fresh and there's nothing wrong with that one. It's just that I can't get them to install. If I uninstall and then check for uninstalled hardware they are instantly added to the list, yellow circles and exlamation marks included. I can't pick the driver to install, even though that is, I believe, what is supposed to be happening.

Hmm... One final thought before I'd suggest a re-format is to after you uninstall the drivers just run the installs of the usb without going back to make sure that they are uninstalled, because checking for them in the device manager could cause it to say hold on, whats this? So it installs the last drivers it had for it or something, I could be completely wrong tho. But yeah apart from just uninstall then run right away I'd have no clue, google might be able to provide more help, specially if you type in the exact name of the device/network adapter. Other then that I can only suggest a re-format, and that could be just as much of a pain as it appears finding the solution will be.
