Ok, for the past couple of days, my PS3 has been acting wonky. It keeps saying I got some DNS error, and I get this a lot. I've really only been able to get on around midnight. I've tried hooking up wired and wireless, and even two different houses but I still got the same problem. HELP. I really don't feel like playing the Resistance campaign.

Speaking from the perspective of a network professional, a DNS error usually means that it can't locate a Domain Name Server to resolve Internet Names to IP addresses. (Yeah, that whole being able to type in "www.escapistmagazine.com" and get to here is only possible because there is a step in the process that converts www.escapistmagazine.com to the IP address: 216.27.11.195) Considering that PS3 uses wireless networks, I would check out the setup of the Wireless Access Point (usually a router).

Your situation sounds like the DNS server info might be out of date. Check with the ISP and verify your DNS settings.

I have had problems with mine all the time and i've changed all these settings before and then changed them back just to see. I set my ps3 to automatically get an ip address it wasn't able to so i had to put it in manually and because i have a dynamic Ip it changes every hour or something so yeah the internet worked on my ps3 kind of for an hour then wouldn't work at all.

dmase, everyone has a dynamic IP unless it's statically set, in which case, if the DNS gives out that IP address to another device, it's not going to work for you.
