Now I have no clue how to work the thing, I didn't even install it. The day we did though it was working fine, whereas now the connection shows on my PS3 at 10 to 60%, jumping randomly around the intervals. Sometimes it says 100% for a sec or two before returning to the abysmal connection. The thing is in the next room for crying out loud! I put my PS3 in that room and still it showed only a small change in connection. Right next to it: 80%, and I can't leave my TV there.

I have no idea what is going on, we are not dowloading anything (maybe someone else is, but not for an entire week.) and I have no idea how to fix it. Make a new network maybe? Unplug it(although I did a few days ago)?

I'm not that tech-savvy so I say un-plug / plug it in again
Did so right now and we had about 25%.
Before we did though, it just stopped working as I made the post.

It knows I'm plotting against it....

Maybez it's overheating?

Make sure that the antennas are plugged in securely.

Log into it and see whats up.
Antenna fixed, don't feel too much heat....
Thanks, I'll check if I can do those things.

http://192.168.1.254/ go here, its normally the menu for your router, you can run a diagnostic from there or a full reboot. Might help

it might also be 192.168.0.1 as that's another common address for routers. Our new one is 192.168.2.1 though. For some reason.

Try leaving it unplugged for 15 minutes or so and then plugging it in again. Does more than just unplugging it and plugging it in straight away.

first you must mark your name and password on a piece of paper that you will keep and need in the following years.

also: make a password so that only a few of your systems can share the connection, and that no outsider robs your internet.

Welcome to the world of wireless routers, it could be that something is interfering with the signal, go get a cat5/rj45 cable and plug it in directly.

Would also be easier knowing which router it is.

if doing a full power cycle, aka unplugging it, doesn't work. try doing a hard reset by using the reset button, but after than you'll have to setup the connection all over again.

the other thing is what type of router is it? it could be the router just isn't good enough for the PS3, ie using an 802.11b router instead of a 802.11G or 802.11N. i'm going to say try using the N routers.

the other possibility is there's interference in the house from a cordless phone or something like that, the list of stuff that can interfere with wireless tech is pretty surprising and big.

You could always try using an ethernet cable to plug in directly to the PS3 if all else fails. It's probably 802.11b which is weaker than others.
