Dont buy things you dont need and dont be snobbish or lazy, buy cheap or 2nd hand if its worth it.

If you are a bit of a shopaholic stay away from marketting, That includes the latest gadgets.

Every week / month work out a budget and stick to it. Keep track of every penny

If when youve payed out your expences you find yourself with no money for leasure activies, dont despair there are ways of enjoying yourself for little or no money.

Above all dont get into debt and if you do manage your debt in a mature way.

Also plan ahead dont wait until you absolutly need something before you buy it, you will often find yourself spending more cash then buying it cheap on sale.

Food: buy what you can in bulk

If you still living near your folks place, visit them for sunday dinner :D

Don't look at me, I'm supposed to be spending my money on driving lessons, and so far I've spent £200 on a new phone and err... lots, on beer. And clothes. And I still haven't ordered my provisional license.

I guess what I'm saying is ask yourself: "would Woodsey buy this?". If the answer is "Yes!", put it down and run away.

Don't eat in restaurants or get take-outs. When you go shopping, take a list, stick to it, and do not make any purchases on impulse. Keep an eye on price reductions and special offers. Buy your staple foods [rice, vegetables etc.] in bulk, because it's cheaper that way. Rent games instead of buying, unless they're really cheap. Don't buy books, use the library. Pack your own lunches instead of buying from a vendor. If you've got a bike, use it instead of public transport or a car. If you smoke, cut back severely, quit, or start rolling your own.

Basically don't buy anything you don't need. I know that sounds simple, but honestly try to divide your life into 'essentials' and 'luxuries'. I know a lot of people would say "But my WoW subscription is an essential!" but that's just so much bollocks, to be fair. An essential is something you need to live, like paying the rent, food bills, water, electric, gas, council tax etc. Things like beer, cigs, broadband and a TV licence are luxuries that can be pared back for cheaper living. Also: cook your own food! You'd be surprised how much food can be had at your local supermarket for the price of a Saturday night takeaway.

Or you could get a weekend job as well as a weekday job and work seven days a week. Seriously, it stops hurting after the first six months...

It would really help if you told us what your main expenses are at the moment.

Do you eat out a lot?
Do you buy clothes often?
Do you go to concerts?
Do you play MMOs?

In short, try to cut out any luxury expenses. You can make do with an awful few articles of clothing if you try, for example.

Also, if you pay for your electricity yourself, be careful to always turn off the lights when you leave a room. It adds up over time. When it comes to electricity the real money-sink is heating though. If you live somewhere cold, you can save a lot of money by investing in a thick sweater and a woolen blanket.
