Hey there.

I was always intrigued by the idea of forum games, and the Escapist even has a separate thread category for them, which is nice. And I kind of want to take part in them.

However, I go to the Role Playing forums and I get intimidated by the sheer ammount of pages in every "Adventure".

So, I have a question: Where and how can I start and get "easy transition" into them? Also, which "adventures" would you recommend for a newbie?

Oh, and also maybe you could link to ther sites with community that likes such things?

Thank you.

You could always introduce yourself over in the Avatar Adventure Group [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Avatar-Adventure-Group]. It's pretty self-explanatory, really: you'd be Moist von Lipwig and/or Mr Fusspot in this case. The story doesn't advance very quickly, so it shouldn't prove particularly taxing on your spare time.

Last time I've check, just picked a theme/ story (like I liked doing superheroes related rp in the past) you're into and depending if the GM is a grammer nazi or not, you should fall in just fine as long you keep up to date with the role play (check in for update on a daily basis ).

My advice is to lurk for a while and wait for a new game that catches your eye. If you start a new game then you have the advantage of not having pages and pages of lore to catch up on, and you will find your feet quick enough. I ended up GMing the first RP I ever joined!

There are more casual games like the avatar adventure which Barbas mentioned, god games and character contests also tend to be quite free and easy to take part in.

It's best to find a game that started recently or has yet to begin. Jumping into an RP that's been going on for months or years is typically a bad idea. Also, you may want to check other forums too. The RP community here is dwindled over the years and there aren't many of us left it seems. The fact that my RP can go 2-3 weeks without a post and remain on the front page is a testament to that.
