My ps3 has been acting wierd for some reason. Recently it has been acting like it's been haveing trouble doing simple tasks as it sometimes takes for ever to load my messages, music, and other things. Then it gets stuck while I play online and it will frezze up and when I try to turn the system off it'll take days for it to respond. Other times when i exit a game the sysyem will restart for no reason. Now today when i tryed to turn the system on it's saying it need to do a system sweep and completely erase EVEYTHING on my harddrive, now i'm NOT going to willingly let it whipe all my hard work away just because it's haveing growing pains, does anyone have any advise on what to do without resorting to letting the system whipe everything off, i spent too long getting to where i am now and it will be a major kick in the balls if i have to redo everything.

--EDIT--
Well thank you sony support for giving me a load of shit information that did'nt do jack squat. Well ps3 you had a good run but now it's time for a system whipe *tears* I'mgonna miss all the fun I had on the FIRST go around, now it's going to feel like grind on the second go. to my loveing original ps3 hard drive, you will be missed.

virus? seems like you may have no other choice but to redo everything. My laptop died on me one day, i had no backup and every image, video, song... thousands of things that were important in my documents folder... all were lost. Now this laptop will be backed up once a month and i hope to keep it safe.

EDIT: yeah i have no idea about PS3 so i dont know if virus's exist or not, i can only guess. Could also be some fault within the machine itself.

A virus on a ps3? I have'nt heard of it but that doesn't mean it's not true.

Create a back up via the system settings and then do a complete sweep.

Or just call the customer service.

Call customer service. They pay people to help you.

I'm lucky if they ever mail me my sandwich that I ordered 5 hours ago.
