Need Major Help on Steam

Okay so here's my problem, it's TF 2 and happens with EVERY server I try to join. When I join a server that has a map playing that I've never been on it starts to download, gets half way then and then stops completely and says I'm "missing the map"....WELL OF COURSE I AM! Or else I wouldn't be downloading the map or trying to at least. I've been trying to figure this out for a long time but nothing I've done works. Someone help me

Also Verifying the cache and defragment doesn't work.

I have also posted this on the Steam forums but I figured I would double my chances.

No, I don't think anything bad happens, and I think any maps you've downloaded will still be downloaded.

Long as hell though.

For my input, try this: Go to your Steam folder, and go Steam>steamapps>(username) and delete the TF2 folder.

I don't think so....although I don't know what you would consider a mod for TF 2 and I don't know what a script is

I don't think so....although I don't know what you would consider a mod for TF 2 and I don't know what a script is

Mods for TF2 usually involve different skins. You can change how the characters look in their portrait on the bottom left, or change how they look on the field, yadda yadda.

Scripts make things go faster. For instance, you can make it so that if you press a single button, you do a string of things, like automatically destroying and building a sentry gun so you don't need to switch between the build and destroy menus.

You have to do all these things manually, so if you don't know what they are you're probably fine. Uninstalling and then reinstalling TF2 shouldn't hurt you at all, and at most leave you with a few minutes of fixing the keyboard settings if you changed that around any.
