G'morning folks, I need some new artists to listen to. I'll go for anyone from fully-fledged recording artists to guys with a webcam, a youtube account and a guitar, as long as they are good.

Thanks In Advance!

Why, whenever a thread is made like this, does no one ever give examples of things they like and don't like? We cannot read your mind. And don't give that bullshit of "I'll listen to anything". If you do, and I link Waking the Cadaver, you better damn well like it then.

I hope you like at least one of these.

Gimme something to work with, a genre at the very least.

Otherwise i'll just start throwing out general recommendations like... Ayreon. Or Pain of Salvation(seriously these are both great)

Ok, Pink Floyd, one of the best bands ever. Ok now artists with samples

If you liked that, Chiodos is a pretty cool band thats not too similar, but in the ballpark.

And of course, I feel obliged, my favorite band ever, Hurt

Jesus, don't give us a clue or anything. It would really help if we knew:

* What you already like
* What you already dislike
* How you define "good"

If you can answer those things (especially the third) in detail, I can recommend you stuff, until then there's really no point.

Since you didn't state any particular genres, have a nice little list from a blender:

1. Arctic Monkeys (British Pop rock)- Amazing band with amazing songs. IMO: Fantastic.

Recommended songs: Brian Storm, Fluorescent Adolescent, From the Ritz to Rubble (My favorite) and D is for Dangerous.

2. Pendulum (Drum and Bass)- Another British group. Drum and Bass guaranteed to make you want to flail around like a crazed chimp. IMO: Simply amazing. I love most of their songs.

Recommended songs: Vault (My Favorite), Masochist, Hold Your Color, Fasten your Seatbelt, Through the Loop, Granite.

3. Aesop Rock (Rap)- A white guy from NY with a gravely voice singing in metaphors. It's good, bro.

Recommended songs: None Shall Pass, Coffee, Citronella (My Favorite), The Harbor is yours.

4. Lupe Fiasco (Hip Hop)- A truly talented rapper worth checking out.

Recommended songs: Superstar, The Instrumental (both my favorites)

5. Ugly Duckling (Rap)- 3 goofy white guys rap about stuff. Pretty talented and just fun.

Recommended songs: Slap, Turn it Up, Eye on the gold chain, Meatshake.

6. Black Sun Empire (Drum and Bass)- More DnB to thump your brain into the wee hours of the morning.

Recommended songs - breach

I'd post more but this is getting tedious.

Enjoy them in no particular order:

Logistics, Skynet, As I lay Dying, For Today, August Burns Red, Aphex Twin, The Chemical Brothers, Eminem, The Pillows, Ima Robot, Gym Class Heroes, Jay-Z, Argyle Pimps, MGMT, KMFDM, The Ting Tings, Fallout Boy, The Almost, Monty Are I, PhantomenK, Sabrepulse, Firebrand boy etc.

Holy huge diversity Batman.

If you want good music you'll pretty much want all this as well maybe some 90's stuff or earlier, the greatest music of today is in the past after all.

Well I like a bit of everything. My tastes range from hard rock to electro pop to metal to jazz, i'm fairly eclectic when it comes to music, so whatever genre you like, send me what you think is the best example, and you'll have my thanks :)

If you like rap check out Immortal Technique. He is a political rapper not like 50 Cent trash.

If your more of a rock guy check out Disco Ensemble and Broken records are pretty good.

Bouncing Souls. While everything is good, I advise hitting up Night Train, Anchors Aweigh, Gasoline and Badass.
Angels and Airwaves - Breathe and Call to Arms
Pendulum - Granite and Vulture
