hey everyone =) i just recently got a new computer (cause my other one had a heart attack and gave up on me) so now i have a chance to get some new PC games an acctualy play them.

My usual interests for PC games are of the RTS genre (cause on a console they play like an elephant in a bathtub). i am willing to play shooters though, if they play easily and the controls are simple. i like SCI-FI games mainly, although i do like the occasional modern and past games =)

just need to know what good games there are in these categories (not crysis though, or any games that require a necron monolith to play lol), any advice would be greatly appreciated (for a post on the escapist this is quite formal lmao just realised haha X )

think i also should of metioned that my computer isnt the best, it deffinatly isnt a gaming computer, someone metioned a total war game, ive seen a mate play this and by hell are them games huge, would they work on an average computer, if it helps my computer is made by packardbell, one of the new ones =) thanks ppl

THQ pack, 50dollar (if you are in the eu you want to get it gifted from the states if you can) for a ton of games; most of which are very good.

Edit: oh and mass Effect is amazingx10 so get that as well.

Goodness, I think you've introduced me to the best deal ever. I might just have to buy that. Steam is the best...

Might I recommend Left 4 Dead 2? An excellent game for the PC. Starcraft is a Sci-Fi RTS, so you might dig that. And while I'm here I'll just join the crowd and say Mass Effect.

I was going to recommend the Thq Pack, 3 RTSs that all play quite differently with all their expansions. Plus loads more games as well.

Tis also cheap! :D

I don't know what your problem with elephants in bathtubs is but I don't approve. Elephants deserve to be clean too.

I... I just... I can't... wh... WHAT??

You liked Left 4 Dead better on the 360? I've never heard such a thing in my entire life... does not compute... I loved it on PC and couldn't stand it on 360. I had a perfect plan set up to mow down a horde with a combat shotgun but a zombie ended up behind me so I had to turn around to kill it but couldn't turn around fast enough. On PC, I could have whipped around, took his head off, and turned around to finish off the rest of the horde. I hated it on 360.

we all have different tastes lol, my theory is PC is best for RTS games, and some shooters and arguably some racing games, where as consoles deal with the shooters and RPG games (simply because they usually have higer graphic requirements and on the computers i get usually dont work)

Just go on Steam, you'll get some true greats like Mass Effect for cheap - they've got a huge sale on at the minute I think. Dragon Age is on sale (although I haven't played, but obviously it's got glowing reviews), definitely play the Half-Life games if you haven't done so yet.

Then there's L4D2 and Bioshock - haven't played either yet, but Bioshock is reportedly fantastic and a friend of mine with impeccable gaming taste is whole-heartedly recommending L4D2 to me.

Crysis is also a very good game; it looks stunning, has an above average story, gives a fair amount of freedom in your play style and is good fun and a good length. Anyone, and I mean anyone, that says they've completed it in something like 5 hours is a moron - they're lying.

Batman: AA is really great also; one of the best games of this year.

Can't really comment on RTS titles (the only one I can play and can actually get anywhere in is Rome: Total War), but you shouldn't miss out on any of those games.

The only RTS's I can recommend are Company of Heroes and World in Conflict and if you want FPS's with simple controls then take any Valve game. I myself have witnessed a die hard console player (almost) actually enjoy playing with keyboard and mouse in L4D.

If you list your system spec (the basics like GFX card, RAM, etc.) then I'm sure we'll be able to tell; Crysis really ain't that hard to run on good settings - I'd be surprised if you couldn't knock it out on high easily if it's a new PC.

well i cant say the full spec cause i aint a computer wiz, what i can say is it has windows 7 ( tryed installing a few older games and they are not supported which is a reall *****!) urm 60 odd gig on the C drive and another 60 on the D drive, which again i find annyoing, and put it his way, if i have high specs for most of my games, they run slow, starwars empire at war for example, it has a NVIDIA graphics card, intel celeron =S dunno if that means anything.

OK. Maybe not then.

If Empire At War runs slowly for you then I'm not sure if you'll even reach the minimum specs for some of the games out there.
