Well, I'll get it over and done with.
My laptop has decided to try and drop dead on me by saying that I need to log into the only profile on there and enter a password. There's 2 things wrong with that:
1. There's no password
2. IT'S THE ONLY USER!!!

So, as always, I press ENTER and it takes me to a screen saying 'Loading personal settings', then says something like:
UserInit Login Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Anything you have been working on may not have been saved.
I've also tried typing all sorts of generic passswords, but it says that I must enter the password correctly.

I then try the Task Manager, but it says that the Task Manager has encountered a serious error and needs to close.

I now think I'm screwed. Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work, I can't open Command Prompt to format it, and I don't know how to do it manually.

AND I CAN'T PULL IT APART BECAUSE IF I DO, MY BROTHER WILL SLAUGHTER ME!!!!

So, if anyone can get me a solution that doesn't involve sending it away to repair it for a fee, then you shall be supplied with NEAR-INFINITE amounts of Internet cookies!!!
No, not the irritating ones that hide viruses, actual, proper cookies!

Oh, and my brother fixed this before (yes, it's happened before), but he's kinda out as I type this and if I call him, he'll kill me over the phone.

You could try using Ophcrack to find out what password it thinks you should be entering.

Did you try to unplug it and remove the battery and plug back and battery on. My laptop somethimes plays tricks like that with me, usually restart solves it. But if you are too clumsy to try to remove the battery without tearing the whole thing apart I suggest you just close it and walk away slowly and backwards and when you are at a safe distance just run for it!

Try operating in safemode to fix things first. Check the location of UserInit.exe; it should be in the system32 folder, NOT the windows folder itself.

Other things:
virus scan, perhaps pluging the hard drive into another computer carefully
backup and re-install
suck it up and call your brother

I recommend you try everything you have already but in safemode.
