No, Fallout 3 is the only game of the three I have played, and therefore is my only frame of reference for the others.

Fallout 3 is closer to Oblivion than Morrowind; Oblivion is a bit more freeform and has a less interesting setting than Fallout 3.

A bit more on-topic, Oblivion has better combat overall (though still fairly crappy), better quests (with more meaningful rewards) but a much more generic fantasy setting, a very poorly done autoleveling system on enemies and loot, and a less diverse variety of spells and effects.

Without the mods of the PC version, the abysmal autoleveling system of Oblivion would be much more problematic. Enemy spawns and loot spawns are only minorly affected by location and strongly affected by level. Finding the exact same enemies the world over murders the feeling of exploration in the game. With the enemy's scaling, you're essentially punished for leveling up in Oblivion. The extreme irritation of cliff racers in Morrowind simply doesn't compare.

Both games become dull in high-level combat due to huge hit point totals and boring methods of inflicting damage, but Morrowind at least lets you whip up a few ways to end it quickly through obscene damage. I found myself usually turning invisible on the umpteenth Oblivion Gate run to not have to fight anyone. Morrowind can become laughably easy - but I find that I prefer that to the mindnumbingly boring that Oblivion becomes.

The enchanting/spell effects systems of Morrowind let you be a little bit more creative than Oblivion's. Levitation is a great effect, and leaping multiple world map cells in a single leap with a 2 second, 100 pt jump effect is very fun (and a good way to improvise your own fast travel.) There's the Daedric Tower Shield that I had as well that did ~400 points of shock damage in a 50ft radius used for Vivec bombing runs.

Ultimately, I'd favor Morrowind.

I played Morrowind and although it was fun I say that you should buy Oblivion just because it was not really fucking lame having every fifth sword swing register as a hit.
For how long did you play it?

I say go for Morrowind.
About a week on the Xbox.

Patience is the key to hit rating.

they can both be completed in about 50 hours or so, you dont HAVE to spend as long as i did
There's a youtube video of someone completing Morrowind in a lot less than that. There's a 7:30 speedrun and "Morrowind is NOT a long game lasts 16:33 including intro.

More likely, though, yes it is hours and hours long.

Once you level up a few times, everything you meet infects you with a blight disease.

well yeah, they CAN be finished in less time, but what i mean by 'complete' is finish storyline, finish all side quests, join and finish each guilds quests and find everything on the map :) i agree with you, they can be done in less but i dont count that as complete :) cos i'm an obsessive :)

You've heard it many times before. But I'll just say this. I've had the platinum hits Morrowind for as long as I've had my Xbox original, and I got that sucker when I was about 10, and I'm 16, and I have gone through multiple characters, some of them glitched to make them super powerful, and have only scratched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to content on that game, and haven't beaten the main quest either.

As for Oblivion, I've beaten the main quest line, and am almost finished with the Mages guild quest line. I know there's more to do, but it's so unimmersive I can't help but feel that I've seen it all already. I know I haven't, but still. I was playing Oblivion on the PS3, in case that matters, and it wasn't the GOTY edition.
