Today, well yesterday now, I sliced my foot open on something at the beach I went to. The cut was so bad and bloody that I had to get it stitched up. Well now I'm having trouble getting to sleep. Every time I tried to sleep, my foot twitched or suddenly surged with pain. I took a prescribed pain killer at about 8, and I can't take another one until about 3. So... Anyone have any advice on blocking out pain at least enough to sleep. I also have to avoid the slight possibility that I may accidently tear my stitches during my sleep.

Also, I guess. Anyone else have a similar situation?

I've had similar situations before and there was nothing I could do about it. The pain would decide on it's own when to appear and it usually happened at night or evening. If the medications not working call the doctor.

Story in short is that the blood is releaseing chemicals that make fibroginin turn into fibroin to make the clot and try to heal patch it up etc. Most bodily functions we shut out during the day or our brain keeps a passive tab on it and we dont notice it. Its mainly when trying to sleep relax or under some kind of drug we have a "heightned" sense of whats going on in our bodies so you are most likely feeling what is happening. That or maybe your infected idk i can see it lol

I'm usually pretty good at ignoring pain, so... I'm not much help here. Just try to keep your foot comfortable and relaxed and that should help the most. You could also try icing it, or a hot water bottle, depending on what you think'd feel good on it, and not irritate it.

Cope.

Go read a book, play some games, draw, or something. I've had my arm and leg stitched up before, so, don't overexert yourself. Sorry I don't know of anything else to do. Hope you get better.

Distract yourself. Take medication with "may cause drowsiness" on the label (OTC meds, obviously.) If you think it's starting to get infected, apply silver nitrate.

Just watch some movies all night until they lul you into sleep, keep the volume low so they don't wake you and it might work.

Other than that you may want to show your body whos boss, worked for my one friend, flexed away a stomach sickness (may have happened, may have not, who knows?:p).

Sounds like something you should be asking a doctor rather then a forum.
