I find myself in the dilemma of having to spend some time at the parental's home over the holidays and need an escape from the dullness. I've been considering buying Nier or Lost odyssey wondering if they would hold my attention and keep my mind off my black ops addiction. Wouldn't mind some feedback from members who have played these two on whether they are worth it or not, if not wouldn't mind some other suggestions for relatively new JRPG's.

Thanks in advance.

How about a newer release, like Dead Rising 2, Fallout NV, or something like that? Much better than any JRPG.

I have nv and put about 45 hours in before i got the black screen save corrupt glitch and ever since then I haven't been up for playing it again to be honest. I'm just kinda in the mood for a good old Jrpg and have really done all i can for the moment with my final fantasy collection.

Two words Mine craft, admitidly its not a JRPG, but its fun and will keep you amuzed. also Its FREE!
This. But buy it now or you won't be able to get all the DLC or updates for free. That doesn't mean bug patches, just extras. But yeah, get it in Alpha if you want everything for just $10. You have till the 20th.

Well, seeing as I'm a fairly big fan of JRPGs, I'll give you some feedback.

I can't be much help with Nier, seeing as I haven't picked it up yet. But as for Lost Odyssey: as long as you don't mind turn-based combat, I'd definitely tell you to pick it up. It was a lovely game, both in style and storyline. Some of the scenes were a bit ham-handed, and a few of the boss battles were tricky (to the point of forcing you to level-grind and/or figure out a ridiculously good strategy and/or get very, very lucky), but I quite enjoyed it.

Cheers LS, thats the sort of stuff I was hoping for, I'm a fan of turn based jrpgs, love the ff series and I don't really mind grind leveling when required. Noticed these two games had dropped to around £10 each in local store and thought I may have overlooked them/ just not known of them upon release.
