Jesus, not sure where to start with this one. Try putting up a photo of Gaddafi with the subtitle 'This guy be bat-shit mental'

Try to use language that makes your presentation sound authoritative, talk like you know what you mean.
"North Africa: Their actions and our culturally relative views on them; are we right to judge?"

Have some stage presence and use Humour! Poot in things that are not entirely relevant for comedic affect. Go completely off topic at some point and chastise your self for your lapse in concentration. If there are in jokes relevant to the group you are presenting to, poot in some reference to them (know your audience).

Don't let the humour detract from your point, rather have it compliment and support your argument.

I think the hardest thing about this is that it may seem forced if you aren't careful. I would only recommend using humor if you are confident in your ability to utilize it.

My recommendation for having a strong start it to do something like an activity, or ask a question. Something that will incorporate the entire audience, and get them thinking and participating in the presentation. If you can get them to debate something that's even better because it then takes the pressure off of you and makes it so that they are doing the talking.

Really knowing what your talking about. do lots of reserch and find an angle that interests you. Try to find an aspect of the unrest that your audience can relate to. ie in eygpt it started on facebook, and one of the leading guys was a google employee.

One of my favourates is to ask your audience questions, it keeps em' on there toes and stops them going to sleep.

Also power point can be overrated. For goodness sake don't just read the slides!

Good Luck
