I am doing a research paper on how video games are a new and maturing medium for art, and I am currently working on how a major obstacle for video game to over come is being accepted by society. The main focus of becoming accepted is through how video games are considered child's play things and the controversies, like the Mass Effect sex scandal. So, what are other controversies that I can use, other than the ME one and the "for the children" censorship bs that I can find on the Escapist. Links would be helpful, but that's what google is for.

I realize that I look up this myself, but time crunches are a *****.

Also, if anyone really wants to read the final paper, I can find a way to get it to you.

So you want to know what some people consider controversial???

Well, although I think it's fine, the airport level in MW2 is apparently sensitive and controversial.

Apart from that, I haven't played any games that are 'controversial' though I am sure others have.

It's all about controversies? If so, yawn, most controversies are cooked up by the marketers to make games look more edgy and appealing anyway. The main thing I've heard about that blocks games from being accepted is that the content locks them into a comic book style ghetto where outsiders who look for content that means anything to them are excluded. One of the largest reasons why things like Wii Sports and Guitar Hero are popular.

No,no. It's not all about controversies and only the ones created by the media's reaction to a game, just the part that I am currently working on. The essay is basically about how some video games are art and have great potential as a medium for art.
