Need some help

A while back, my microphone stopped working in all of my Steam games. All that the other players hear is my voice, but sped up and extremely high pitched. This started around the time that I downloaded and installed Half Life Sound Selector for Zombie Master. I know it isn't the hardware itself, because when I speak to someone on Skype, they can hear me perfectly. How do I fix this?

My computer is a Macbook Pro running Windows XP via harddrive partitioning. The mic I am using is built in to the computer.

I tried. It had no effect whatsoever.

Well then it's probably not the porblem. Check your sound card drivers.

Sounds like there might be some problems with the properties set to the pickup. Did you check the setting to the microphone feeds?

My mic still works in Skype, though. It couldn't be the drivers.

I dug around in the settings for a bit, if that's what you mean.

Most of my stuff is vanilla. The problem is on ALL of my games that are voicechat enabled, however.

I merely posted to help bump his thread so he can get assistance. Also, I'm not on probation for "Stuff like that" yeah nut. I'm on probation for a mix up and assuming that a thread would be locked in seconds as the OP was just banned. I was then put on probation for low content post.

This may be weird, but from a gaming techy P.O.V., I wouldn't reccomend a MAC. Ever. =P Expensive using obsolete hardware. And ever since they started using Intel Procs and Nvidia gfx cards, they're basically the same as a PC, you're just paying more for a fancy GUI on top of Darwin, a free BSD variant available on the net which Mac OS is based on.

On topic, use deductive reasoning. =P
If it's in all steam games but not in Skype, then it's not your mic, it's a Steam problem. If it's a Steam problem, it should show up in settings. If it isn't in the Options menu, try reinstalling HL Sound Selector and using an observation program to look at what it changes. Chances are, one of those changes will be what is now causing your problem.

Off topic again, how many people are in the Zombie Master servers last you checked? I thought they all left for L4D and Killing Floor.
