Well, seeing as how when you talk to Microsoft tech they tell you not to, and when you get the box to ship it in the instructions say not to in big, bold letters, and when my buddy/dumbass ignored these signs and sent it in with his box it screwed his profile up and he had to make a new one, I would say no. Do not send in your hard drive. Just follow the instructions, and wait the two weeks.
