Xbox 360 hardware....

How it tries to cheat us of all our money.

Well I bought an xbox 360 60gb (so not the elite, I think it's called the premium). It is supposed to have HD but When I checked the television I face palmed to realize that my parents had bought a HD television that lacked the required ports to connect the xbox 360 in HD. However they did have HDMI ports and I know that the HDMI compatibility comes as part of the 360 elite package. I was just wondering whether if I bought an HDMI cable for my 360 premium I would be able to connect it to my television and get HD out of my 360 premium.?

Note: Remember it is not the elite and HDMI is not part of the original package.

Little surprised your TV doesn't allow for component cables or VGA, both of which from the X-box are hi-def. I've got mine running through a VGA, I would imagine the HDMI cable works much the same as my VGA one, block on one side that slots into the XBox connection and has an Optical out for sound and then the TV connection on the other side. Have a look on Amazon though to be sure.

"Furstoval", I don't even think it's possible for a relatively recent TV to have an HDMI port but lack a Component in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_video].(Red/Green/Blue cables that come with the Xbox, you're sure there aren't any corresponding ins on your TV?)

But even if it does, any HDMI cable will do. And when I say any will do, I mean please don't buy overpriced Monster bullshit cables. As a point of reference for you, my 30' HDMI cable cost me all of 40$ (that's shipped from the other side of the country).
I kid you not. My parents really did not think it through. Our last tv was so old it only had SCART so when they bought it they did not even consider gaming so did not check it. It is a really weird TV.

That is one weird TV. What weird company makes that POS? I would love to see what the back panel of that TV lokks like hahaha.

But it has HDMI right? So you just need to buy an HDMI cable and you're all set...
If you have HDMI cables AND and Hi Definition Tv it shoudlnt have any real problems...maybe your TV is broken somewhere or your box just wants to be mean and let you do have your Hi-Def fun

You can buy the adapter, you plug it in the spot on the 360 where the regular AV cables would go but it's pretty crappy. I have it and yes you get HD out of it but every so often it will blank out and only white/black/scrambles are on the screen, and you have to run up unplug the converter or cables from the 360 and plug them back in and hope you weren't shot dead while you couldn't see what was happening. I hate it, but I didn't have money to upgrade to an elite, so it's not utter shit but it's a push for the price it's at.
