Neil Druckman tries to mobilise TLOU 2 fans to vote for it for player choice in The Game Awards Player vote category

With a panel of judges voting on the other categories and they results being only 5-10% based on vote Neil Druckman seems to want to make sure no game gets a look in as he's now trying to push people to vote in The Game Awards Player vote awards to make sure TLOU2 wins that. With journalists being very much pushing TLOU2 as some epic masterpiece it's likely in for a good shot for the 8 categories of the awards 9 if you count best performance with two different actors nominated in that category that journalists on the expert panel vote for. The Player choice award though is 100% fan voted.

For those who wish to help support Druckman's push or maybe a different title there's about 20 hours or so left to vote.

How is he trying to make sure no other game gets a look in - He's retweeting the post that has the last five nominees listed. Or is this simply a case of 'Neil Druckmann is bad because he's calling attention to his own game being nominated'? Because I can't see what's so terrible about that.

Meanwhile, some neckbeards who can't stand the idea of TLOU2 winning the Game Awards hacked the website, locked people out of voting and changed the voting score so all votes went to Ghost of Tsushima. Druckmann doing the usual "Vote for my entry"-retweet is harmless and something that pretty much everyone does whenever they get nominated to awards that are influenced by public voting. But don't let that get in the way of your hateboner towards Druckmann...

I would expect people to push their game to win a competition like this, as asinine as it is to have a game of the year award for 2020 without including stuff like 13 Sentinels or Perosna 5 Royal or Final Fantasy VIIR.

I dunno who decided to put freaking spiderman on there instead of all of the above but it is definitely utterly incomprehensible. You could at least make a case for the other ones.

Sure, have it straight from the TLOU reddit then. Nice genetic fallacy by the way.
That's the same fake image just not cropped lol.

Also they're a regular of Gaming circlejerk so they possibly could just have posted it to gaming circlejerk on an alt most likely.

I mean, okay?

Im pretty sure "Hey, me/my thing has been nominated for an award - go vote for me/it" is something that pretty much everybody does?

Still think Hades is better though.

Sad individual on the internet can't handle The Last of Us Part 2 and tries to stir up shit about it when its director retweets a Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards tweet about nominees.

Did your caps lock go missing yet?

Ooh a nontroversy! The tea leaves speaketh! The mole hill groweth! The snowflakes...melt...eth?

Aren't fans usually expected to vote for what they're fans of anyway? Either way, I do hope it wins all the awards now, if only to see the internet's collective baby tantrum over triple-distilled insignificance.

Who would have thunk that a creator of a game would urge fans to vote for it on a contest. This is not something that has ever happened before.

Come on, Hobble. TLoU2 is garbage, but you're being juvenile.

How about you prove it is fake? Because that'd be worthwhile, instead of you just doubling down on a genetic fallacy.
Easy.

It's from a subreddit known to fake nonsense with no evidence other than a screenshot which are easy to doctor.

You have no proof it even actually happened.

Yeah that was going to be my comment as well. Is it really shocking that someone involved in the creation of a product, is promoting it to the fanbase when it comes to award season? Sure the way he's doing it, and the phrasing might be somewhat douchey and intentionally confrontational, but....I mean yeah, I don't find it that surprising of an activity.

The thing that's always puzzled me about Of the Year type awards, is what is the metric? I mean how do you determine what is of the year? Sales? Hype? Social media impact? I mean it's such a nebulous thing. I remember when people were bitching about Black Panther being on the Best Picture listing, and criticizing it as a "dumb action movie" or whatever, implying it had no place in "Best Film" categories. But then I've looked at some of the older films that won Best Picture, or were simply nominated, and a TON of really dumb, but big and flashy action films were in there. Like Avatar, which ALL that film had going for it, was groundbreaking technology. I mean they even named the macguffin rare resource, the actual trope name for it, IN THE FILM. Unobtanium. I mean come on. But hey, that's good enough for Best Picture, but a film that was a milestone for an entire ethnicity in films isn't? *rolls eyes*

So yeah, I find the awards concept bizarre in the first place, as it seems entirely arbitrary what is/isn't up to standards.

So I don't really care if he's hyping his game for an award show that I don't give a shit about and that has zero impact on if I buy their games or not.

Your intent for this topic was basically this, wasn't it;

"Look guys! Here's that guy [we] love to hate! He did something! Come on, let's hate on him again together!"?

Or is there some other newsworthy merit hidden here that I'm oblivious to? I'm sure that I could find other directors making similar retweets about their games in these kinds of public polls, care to make topics about them doing it too?

Seems we can’t have anything nice in this industry. Always has to be drama attached. Leakers that spoil things generally are bottom feeders too. Take the latest example -

They are either so in love with hearing themselves talk, or they just have to be “first” with something. If it’s just speculation stuff like a new Silent Hill or whatever, not that big a deal. But spilling info dumps on stuff that’s still clearly under embargo makes them look like pompous asses.

Even as someone who was hardly impressed by Druckman's latest work I find the extreme hatred and demonization directed his way to be really bizarre. He just made a cliche story and killed off the popular character we all knew was gonna die. Get over it, guys.

I mean, it's just the taste of the judges that matters in deciding this. So the real question is how we decide the judges. Are we using pro gamers, game devs, asshole journalists with a political agenda? Honestly I'd rather just use random strangers who get chosen by lottery over any of the elitist options I can come up with.

But yeah it's prolly just industry executives who exchange favors for the publicity generated when your game is highlighted thus.

And yeah I mean if I made a game I'd be hype for it to get an award and I'd push it. Doesn't matter whether I think his game is shit or not, that doesn't affect being hype lol.
