About NeoCron:
NeoCron was released in 2002 as the first FPS MMO RPG and sufferred from bugs and an almost non-existant PR program, hardly anybody knew about the game which is a real shame since it did so much to break the norm of MMO's like:
It was FPS
There wasnt skills in the sense of 'Strong Attack' 'Net Shot' and the like
A rather brutal story
Multiple factions you could play each with their own stories and motives from drug runners, gunrunners, terrorists, somewhat derailed law enforcement and mercenaries.
The ability to kill ANYONE you wanted, WHEN you wanted, even allies, team members and enemies without their consent. (Note: Theres an implant called 'Law Enforcement' if you had it in your skull you couldnt attack anyone, get healed by anyone without it or join a clan. If you took it out then you were 'Free game' but could join a clan and fight anybody wouthout the implant)
Grand vehicles like tanks, quads, gliders, bombers and hoverbikes with chaincannons.
Big apartemnts which you could customize to your hearts content.
Now, NeoCron never got all that far, when it had been out for under 2 years, the big elephant in the room was released (WoW) and things started going downhill with the population, it survived for another 5 years or so untill it was nearly empty barred a very loyal fanbase.
So ReaKKtor (The Devs) started making another game but really didnt want to kill their firstborn, so NeoCron is still running in some back alley of their servers for their more popular game, but instead of closing it down they handed over the reins for the server to volunteers and made it completely free to play, no catches, no freemium and no cash shop, just sign up, download and play!
