Keziah composed himself for a moment. He thought through his plan, what he needed from Damien, and his rank within Rogwell. He had planned out what his basic story would be, but explaining it to one he hated so much would be difficult.
He sighed, and turned to one side, looking at the ground with an air of intense concentration. For a moment, a spark flashed in his eye.
"I have my own reasons for wanting to see the downfall of Rogwell. I prefer not to go into them."
Behind Keziah, the corner of Asmodius's mouth twitched, as if he was suppressing a laugh. Cathode looked at him curiously.
"However, if you want a reason to believe me, then I'll tell you my story."
"Even before I defected from Glaivestone, it was having problems against Rogwell. The idea of taking it down with brute force was laughable, and yet that seemed to be the general approach. Something had to be done about this."
"Now, I'm sure you remember what happened the day I defected. A Rogwell raiding party got into the royal palace. However, I had planned this under the impression that you would be away that day. I knew I needed to have them kidnap someone, so as to gain a decent position from which to control Rogwell, but I had planned on it being someone of less importance."
"With you captured, I was elevated far further in Rogwell then I had planned originally. However, this made Glaivestone far more vulnerable then I had wanted. I had expected to be despised in Glaivestone, but not to be the cause of it's final downfall as it seemed I would have been."
"My solution to this was to take advantage of the benefits I got from capturing you. I became one of the Lord's favorites quickly, and he told me an interesting secret. He knew there was a flaw in your prison, and he told me what it was. However, it seemed absurd that you could work it out on your own."
"So I came to visit you. I disguised these visits as attempts to mock you, but I was working hints as to the flaw into my taunts. Today you finally figured it out, and got free, but despite the fact I wanted you to, I couldn't reveal this straight away. The Lord has spies everywhere, and ruining the position I'd got from this would have put all my planning to waste."
"And yet it's worked out better then I ever intended. You are free inside Zenoth, and I have become one of the Lord's most trusted associates. A little more planning is all that's needed to gain an advantage over Rogwell."
