I'm going to be honest, I love nerd guys. I find they're intelligent, helpful and generally more romantic than most people give them credit for. If you have a girlfriend, what's the most romantic thing you're done for her? If you don't, what would be the most romantic thing you would do when find her?
Like we really needed to know that..

Oh, and: "ALERT: Stereotype!!"

Reported.
Wait... who did you report? The OP?
No, the second poster. Mis-quoted for some reason.

i can't say i'm a great fan of nerd boyfriends, my ex's last was a real nerd and he broke down in tears repeatedly every time she walked past him. he's spent the last 8 months threatening suicide and texting her say "your all i had to live for" etc etc etc. its sad, pathetic and totally fucking pointless. all its done is driven her to block his number.
Nerd doesn't equal a complete wimp, mind you. It's technically just a certain set of interests. A co-worker of mine had a guy like that, and he was far from a nerd. Doesn't matter if guys like that are nerds or not, they're always awful.

[small]*moaps* I still like my romantic idea though...[/small]
no, this bloke was 18, about 8 stone, had every console ever made, literally, and didn't feel like the day was complete without spending 4 hours of it on WoW...

and there there, everyone still likes your romantic idea... ;-)

For my ex :( I took her to lunch, during dessert I peaced, payed, and had the waiter give her a clue to her first objective. At every objective she found a new clue to the next objective (7 in all I think) and at the end there was a gumball machine in her parents' garage with a bag of quarters and each ball had a little gift in it with a reason attached to it for why I loved her. The [supposed to be] last ball [ended up being like 5th to last] had two tickets to 'Les Miserables' in France and the printout of our flight itinerary. It was pretty labour intensive, but rad.

She massages my penis
I don't believe it.
What dont you believe? That he has a girlfriend? That she massages his penis? That he has a penis?
Trolls don't have one. Simple anatomy fact.

OT: My approaches to romance generally screw up. Such as buying a girl roses when it turned out she was horribly allergic to pollen...

Well I met my girlfriend on a chat room for Avatar: The Last Airbender (yes, one of the nerdier love stories ever), and she lives 4 hours away from me. Long-distance relationships are hard, but we've been going strong for about a year and a half now.

There was one time that I realized that I had kind of been neglecting her. I felt horrible about it and dedicated myself to paying more attention to her. The first step in that plan? Plot with her mother (her family likes me, so I can do stuff like that) to have two dozen roses bought and scattered around my girlfriend's room while she was at work. I also mailed a handwritten apology/love letter to her mother, who put it on her desk for her to read when she got back. Since then I've had her mom put one of her favorite candies in her room every time she's at work.

A bit on the nerdier side, for Valentine's Day last year I was learning to code visual novels (very basic video games), and I created kind of an interactive love letter for her, with some questions for her to answer and everything. She loved that.

Go nerds! :D
This is my favourite so far :) I really like that. The roses were a nice touch but what got me was the interactive love letter thing. thats so sweet.

That is awesome Sir, full marks to you.

While I don't really do the romance thing very often, I do have one thing I feel deserves mentioning. Was a few years ago now, and it wasn't for a girlfriend, but rather a friend whom I was interested in (it was mutual, but the distance between us made a relationship too difficult to manage, and we didn't want to risk the friendship). I was headed on a trip that was going to take me past where she lives, and I decided to stop and see her on the way. I bought a single rose done up as well as could be. Wasn't cheap either - Almost $40 for the one rose. But when I presented it to her, she was quite overjoyed. So it was worth it to me.

I was never into nerds so much. They're into me, because I'm snarky and wear glasses and I have a few nerdy interests, but I've always dug on asskicking meatheads with also a few nerdy interests.

I've always classified a nerd as someone who takes their nerdy interests a liiiiittle too seriously, though.

Romantic thing?
I bought her a ring with the money I was going to use for my Xbox 360, but probably the romantic thing is what I'm going to do for christmas.
There's a park here that has some nice lights at night, I'm planning on taking a walk there with her, I just hope the weather gets better.

I asked out my EX-girlfriend through a Haiku.

Makes me sick thinking about it now though.

Hm, I have pitiable boyfriend romance experience, but I do have a favorite valentines gift: big heart-shaped box of chocolate with a switch-blade in the middle! Sweet and stabby.

EDIT: In the box, not the chocolate. That would not have tasted good...

Like someone said above me (and what I ment in the first place), a nerd =! broken mess of a man. Some of us are quite balanced really. Sure I'm a proper nerd (Ezio and Cylon figurine, 3 consoles and a decent PC, a nice collection of pretty nerdy books, think Terry Pratchett, Dresden Files, Dune, etc, big fan of loads of sci-fi, decent collection of games, DVD set of Battlestar Galactica, and I can go on like that) but I also go the gym once a week and take care of my looks and clothing. Sucks to date a broken nerd like that though, they are indeed awful.

And yay, I am not hated for my cheesy romanticness!

I was with my girlfriend for 2 years and on our 2 year anniversary I got us a night in the Napa Valley, California. We had mud baths, a jacuzzi room, and we got half hour massages. After a romantic candle lit Italian dinner, we went for a walk in the wine country where I proposed to her at sunset. We are going back to the spa in January for pretty much the same thing for our 3 year.

I think I'd try to keep my girlfriend and my geek life seperate, as in my life I have only ever experienced the latter. To quote Strong bad playing first person shooters with your girlfriend kind of ruins them both.
