Good evening (or morning or afternoon or whenever you're reading this) Ecsapist peeps.

Your favorite poster in the world has a mild quandary. His friend is getting married shortly. Unfortunately, their gift registry is boring mature adult crap like pots and silverware and whatnot. This is unacceptable.

Therefore, we're going off the grid and getting them something awesome. However, The Escapists sexiest poster is having trouble finding websites for good ideas (and cheap...that's also a requirement :D).

So people; any good places on the interweb that I should check out to find nerdy stuff (think Futurama plushies or Ninja stuff or Calvin & Hobbes; the kind of stuff that any proud nerd would love to have liven up the house and/or office. Also, try to keep it lower in price (>$60) for my income is depressingly little)? Secondary, what cool nerdy stuff do you have?

EDIT: As for my nerd gift contribution, you should check out popuptee.com

They have free shipping which is nice and all the t-shirts are about $12 a pop (though right now they're on sale for $10 a piece). Every three days, the designs change and once they change, there's a good chance you won't see them again. I have bought a Firefly shirt and a Breaking Bad shirt from this place. Highly recommend it.

Thinkgeek.com is usually my starting place for such things. Though I don't know how much specifically Futurama or Calvin and Hobbes they have, I believe they have some ninja things. For the rest you can probably just google around for other nerdy goodies sites, there are a lot of them out there.

As for what I have, I've got a Doctor Who license plate frame, Doctor Who Yahtzee (the dice rolling cup is a beautiful and detailed TARDIS), a sticky bomb plushie modeled after the TF2 sticky bomb, and Kermit the Frog mittens.

Well my coolest nerdy stuff would probably be considered my collection of anime cels...

(I don't collect them any more, I was much better off financially when I did...)

If your friends like Futurama.. I think that it was done with cel animation, you could check around to see if there are any cels available, and for how much. The cels that I have collected ranged in price from $5 to $200, my favorite cel only cost about $15. It's my favorite because it's a close up of a character that I really like, so if you can find something like that for your friends- total win!

Eh... Most of my nerd stuff comes from WeLoveFine.com in the form of custom-made shirts that are ~$25... Of course, they do have other stuff besides shirts, but I mainly focus on the shirts myself... specifically the one's that reference other nerd-related stuff on top of the main theme the shirt presents in question...

Other than that... uh... mimoco.com? Yeah, I'm not much of a plushie kind of person unless you count those trips to Build-A-Bear, I guess...

Try via Ebay (.co.uk or .com depending on were you live)
Usually if you type those things there, you can get awesome stuff from either people selling, or if it has to be new, many stores sell via ebay also these days!

Best nerdy gift I have got has to be my Zelda SkyWard Sword, Nintendo 25th anniversary T-Shirt
Didn't find a picture of it on Google, only other sort of anniversary shirts, but not the one with a picture like on my. My dad said they only had 500 of them in Finland, maybe they're region locked?

You could try out the Loot Crate? https://www.lootcrate.com

It's one of those monthly subscription things that promises to send you a box of nerd stuff every month. I haven't personally tried it yet, but from what I've seen I'm really interested. Best of all, it's only about $12-$14 a month, depending on how long your subscription is for.

As for my nerdy stuff? I really like my figurine of Alduin from the collector's edition of Skyrim, along with the art book that came with it. But my FAVORITE thing is easily my full sized replica of Ice from Game of Thrones that I got for my birthday a few years ago. It's one of either 2000 or 5000 pieces, and came with a certificate.

'Aight, so, here's the thing; the reason folks ask for pots and pans when they get married is on account of not owning any of the machinery to manufacture a decent adult life or a casserole. What you want to do is combine the purchasing of random nerd shit with something that is actually useful.

I found an 8 in 1 screwdriver that us rugged enough to be used as a hammer, is magnetic, has a light... it comes with everything apart from a CD-Rom drive. The best gift I ever had was a multi-bit screwdriver both for sorting out my PC and my home.

The TARDIS, of course. Failing that, Portal 2 Companion Cube Ice Trays are pretty cheap and really useful. They're what we Swedes call a "sjysst present," which roughly translates into "a gift which is certain to inspire large amounts of gratitude in any recipients not completely bereft of their sanity."

I dig www.Superherostuff.com. I see them almost every con and tend to buy gifts for the nerdy fam from them.

Oh most certainly. Normally I would stay on the board because...well....this is the stuff they're asking for and young adults getting married kind of need that stuff.

However, as usual, I waited a smidge too long to pull the trigger. Anything even remotely in my price range that was on that list is gone (and to be fair, they didn't put a ton of stuff down for they own a lot of that stuff already but they don't see the point in getting the "Super Nice but $200" versions of stuff they already have).

When I get back from work today, I'm gonna have to go hunting from some of these sites. Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far...

I would probably just stick to the registry, there's a reason people ask for the boring adult stuff when their weddings roll around. It's so other people will by them the necessities and they have money left for the fun, nice things of their choice themselves.

Unless you plan on getting them something nerdy in tandem with something on their wish-list, I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

Nice OP, really liking this shop.

I use Sharkrobot to buy some geeky based shirts. They come in my sizes so I buy there most of the time.
