You found people playing consoles in school? o,O
I'm more surprised that they were playing a game with guns. Most schools I know of are pretty strict about that kind of thing (In my high school people weren't even allowed to carry around fake plastic swords/scythes for Halloween.)

Really? Every year, we have a year where the years 8s have to come up with ideas to raise money for charuity, and there are always rooms with people playing CoD/Halo and no-one really cares.

Unfortunately, that's not the case at mine. Hell, you aren't even allowed to carry around a bent stick if they think it looks too much like a gun. Heaven forbid anyone so much as know what a firearm is.

Hah, I found it funnier when I was at my technical college. I always looks out of place, being in my early twenties and a woman (most students are late teenaged guys). So the group of boys playing Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (on easiest settings, mind you!) was very suprised when I walked past their game and told them that they needed to build adequate point defeces and shields before they could contemplete a Paragon, and that they shouldn't even need one on the map they were playing, given their abundace of resources and few opponents.

I should have offered to versus them, but I needed to get to class. I honestly think I would have beat them all by myself.

When i was in high school, i was watching a fight from another school on a mates phone, then i said to my friend that was showing me the clip, shit that lil turd is gettin his ass ganked, as a footy jock was walking past, he looked at me and asked if i played WoW, i said yea he grabbed my arm, took out a pen and wrote the name of his server and the name of his character. He left saying, "there's a spot in my guild with your name on it, I'm glad to see that someone else plays too"

There is always at least one.

OT:This is kinda the other way round TBH. Me a two mates were playing monster hunter FU in the computer room in the school library and started talking tactics then suddenly a year 7 comes up to us and starts giving us tips on how to kill the monster were fighting. We asked him if he had the game. he said yes. we said we were all hunter rank 6's..... he was a rank 9 (highest rank)... that made us look bad.

That made me laugh so hard and reminded me of my own Wow experience.
It was the night of LK expansion came out and I got at game stop earlier to get my number and come back later. So I went inside and talked to a few friends that were working there before I went back outside and (only one person in line at the time) waited in line. once he seen me standing there to wait he would not stop talking. Talking about how he farmed gold and sold his character to get extra money workmen's comp wasn't giving him for his leg. After saying that he pulled up his pant leg and showed me the most indescribable ugly leg in the world. Once he told me he played horde and I told him I played alliance. He stopped talking to me then every once and a while would reach out to punch me (light punch) and say back stab. I pulled my hood over my face in shame. Once I got my number and came back later I got hugged twice by random people asking me if I was so-and-so. All happy to meet there online friend at the time and I told them no. Continued to pull my hood over my head and wait in shame.

At School I accidentally when asking someones age I said "How old are you? Oh, your level 16" there was a long pause then quickly corrected myself.

I don't know what's madder - the fact that this story would never happen in any other time in history, or that I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be utterly true. Ahhh, WoW is brilliant when handled properly :p

I've just finished a games design course, and I was one of the oldest people there. What always worried me was that I love the new creative outlets that modern games can bring, and there was a large clique of gamers up to eight years younger than me that kept telling me that gaming peaked during the SNES era.

I'm sorry, were you even alive for that? Of course, these are also the kind of kiddies who act like they were the ones who discovered Metallica, so I'm assuming they'll grow out of it when they hit puberty.

Not too surprising to see people in educational institutes playing games on the computers, I guess. I was in my university computing department a while back (considering we have around ten massive computer clusters on campus, plus various individual ones in cafes, student union, etc.), and I saw a bunch of guys playing Portal on the computers there. If I could have installed Steam on the PCs there I'd have spent an hour or two playing Rome: Total War myself, once I'd finished my coursework, though sadly I didn't have the right admin privileges to do so...

But yeah, not massively surprising. I used to get shouted at by my old computing teacher at school for playing games on the computers (bear in mind this was only at lunchtimes, when the cluster was quiet and almost empty, and I'd finished all my work already...).

What a boring school OO.

Since we got to use PCs in school students have been playing Counter-Strike tourneys, Battlefield games and all sorts of other things. My favorite was Worms II =3.

This thread hurts my head, I thought these forums were suppose to be a higher caliber of discussion.
