This may seem like an odd choice for a review on a gaming website, but hear me out.
Note that the title of my reviews is ?Nerd?s Eye Apps?, which isn?t restricted to games alone, though the best reviews generally are.
I don?t know if any of you read my review on Glow Draw, which kind of demonstrates what I?ll review?that is, to say, everything.
I apologise for the long-winded introduction, and I?ll get started, shall I?
This app comes from Ultie Incorporated, (am I the only person thinking Ultor?), and is named Magic Sand. Like Glow Draw, it?s a drawing application, but it?s so much more effective. You can choose from a number of styles, ranging from ?sketch?, through ?chrome? and to ?web?. These styles give the named textures, and can actually result in some fairly impressive images for the amateur artist. I even doodled a fairly convincing bust of Optimus Prime. Admittedly, I didn?t have enough room on my iPod?s screen to do the rest of him.
So, yes, that?s all there is to it. Drawing with style. It all sounds good, doesn?t it?
There?s one fault, in my opinion.
There?s no eraser. I am getting sick of this lack of erasing capabilities. If I screw up on Optimus Prime?s smokestack, I don?t want to restart the damned picture, I just want to remove the offending stack.
Why can?t developers just understand that one point?
Weigh the good points against the bad, and perhaps a few of the ugly, and let?s see where it goes.
Magic Sand is only worth having if you like to doodle in your free time, but you don?t have a pen or paper. Certainly better than Glow Draw, but nothing special.
There?s no real need to avoid it as though it was the plague, but don?t chase the App Store down the garden path with your chequebook, so to speak.
