sigh.... I'm sick of everything online at this point. Me and my friends have given up on the genuinely bad time sink that is MW2. We have decided to start playing PC games, as they can only be better. I suggested TF2. I LOVED the ps3 version, but I knew that on the pc, I was missing out on updates, skins, Voice chat (PEOPLE ON PS3 NEED TO GET MICS!) and non game breaking events (Sentry guns on the consoles = OMGWTFBBQ) But.... My computer is a dinosaur. I have made multiple threads about how I bought TF2 multiple times with different accounts after trying to upgrade my comp, and failing. So Now I am obsessing over TF2. When I play on ps3, I play Spy. It works in any situation, and it lets me get rid of those DAMN SENTRY'S!

So I watch a ton of spy video's And I fall in LOVE with the dead ringer. I want it SO BAD! And then I find out its crap. It USED to be OP. But now its Apparently un-usable. I HATE that about games. When something is totally useless.

While I cant say TF2 has any REALLY OP things in it, I know other games do. Know why nobody plays war hammer online? Yes WAR HAMMER! One of the Bad assyes series's out their?

its because everyone rolls one type of class, that Dominates every other. And the Devs do nothing. They keep nerfing the already bad classes, and let the Over powered ones dominate.

So I ask you this escapist... Do you hate nerfs? Are they ANY ones you can say "Good thing" What are some things you wish would get buffed?

This can be any game. Remember how Mw2, they nerfed the way OP models? They just need to nerf the ump now.

So.. Nerfs and buffs. Your thoughts?

Yea, the reason it got nerfed was because it was OP. It's not unusable now, you just aren't good with it. Try playing with it for a while until you gain some experience using it.

Sometimes, a nerf or buff can really fuck things over, like the Pyro's random buffs recently that really didn't seem warranted at all, but really it's nothing you can't get over too easily. If it ruins your playing experience, you aren't trying hard enough to enjoy the game.

1. Why would you buy TF2 multiple times? Once you have a steam it's permanently yours, you just have to reinstall it.

2. Dead Ringer is fine. I use it and it is still great, if anyone said it was useless they were dead wrong.

OT: If the people running the game decide something needs to be changed, it probably does.

I'm very happy with the Pyro nerf/buff they did, less damage but more airblast.

Other than that I can't really remember anything, I remember playing WoW PvP and having rogues buffed and nerfed a lot but never really bothered me.

The TF2 Homewrecker buff was certainly needed, it was useless without.

In Starcraft 2, the Void Ray really did need that buff it got. It's range was huge before.
In Starcraft one, the spawning pool used to be very cheep, making a zergling rush almost impossible to beat.
Also in starcraft one, the high templar psi storm used to do HUGE amounts of damage, they properly nerfed it.

So yeah, three perfectly credible nerfs.

Do you have a malfunctioning Caps Lock button? Because i noticed a lot of caps where i don't think they were needed.

As someone who's into World of Warcraft and who was intimately into the City of Heroes forums, I find obnoxious complaints about nerfs and buffs to be even more ungodly annoying. Game balance is something the MMO devs aim for, and when they trip up somewhere it's condoned to point it out, but I find the people who complain the most and the loudest are the ones who somehow interpret any misstep (or even genuine balance) to be personal insults and proof that the devs are out to get them.

It's almost worse outside MMOs, for that matter, though I might just be annoyed about that particular complaint in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

I remember the Fury tree for warriors in WoW regularly getting nerfed because the arms tree was doing too good in pvp. Great times for raiding DPS warriors.

... Stop reading my mind,
1. Dead right.
2. I also am a fan of the dead ringer, but i do switch to cloak and dagger depending on the situation.

Valve listens to its community, so the nerfs buffs are coming from players not just the devs. The only nerf that i disliked about tf2 was the sandman bonk, I liked it when they where stuck still, but to admit it was a little unfair on the poor sucker that got nailed by the ball.

Well; Nerfs/Buffs are the blessing and the curse. Some times they make this weapon too powerful, and that too weak. They never seem to get it right really >>.

But correcting the balance in games shouldn't be stopped. They just need to get better at it. Truth be told; people are never happy. As long as there is more than 1 class and 1 weapon, people will complain the one they DON'T use is more powerful than the other...

When I upgraded, Steam would get corrupted on my computer or something. I'm still not sure what happed. But When I try to get on my old accounts, they apparently don't exist. I'm getting a new one once I am SURE I can play it without problems.

i always liked wow because they constantly nerf and buff everything. So you can be OP, but you have to do your research to do so, which i feel is a good trade off. Plus, if you roll an OP class, and you're a slow leveler like me, by the time you hit level cap, that class might not be OP anymore, then your stuck with a palidin named healzforfood who's prot spec but everyone invites you to group as a healer then they get all pissed off at me for not being a healer and it's like "wtf, i told you i was tank spec." and you get g-kicked and... wait what was i talking about...

Bringing balance to an FPS is understandable on account of the game being focused around one style of play; multiplayer. In an MMO it's a completely different beast since MMOs generally have two different game styles, PvE and PvP. Typically I hate nerfs/buffs that result from something I don't even care about. In the case of WoW, talents and skills are typically balanced around the arenas, the PvP, which constantly has negative backlash on the PvE crowd who don't care about what six people do in a tiny little box.

I Don't have the game. My pc cant tun it. I have it for ps3, but its NEVER been patched.

Really I have stories pc TF2 players will get goosebumps from. Pyro's don't have Air blast. Soldiers rocket jump is impossible. Sniping is 1000x harder. Level 3 sentries? One shot kill if they see you. Yeah. I REALLY want Tf2 on pc.

I find that with the CnD I play to conservatively, always hanging out waiting for the right time and usually getting hit by a random pyro and even once I managed to intercept a jar of urine. I have seen some people play really well with it, but I've just kinda of worked myself into some kind of groove where any watch that goes on my wrist is foreign and evil. Whereas with the DR I have to be more aggressive, which usually ends up with more important people with more sharp holes in their backs.

How much ammo do the Soldier and Demo have for their weapons on your one?

In a clip or all together? The soldier has around... 18 rockets? 4 in a clip. 18 for shotgun.

Grenade launcher has 18 as well I think. I cant for the life of me remember the ammount of stickies but I remember it being ridiculous. I play spy a lot.

I play alot of spy (My 2nd most played under sniper) and would gladly give up my Dead Ringer (I use it all the time to great effect) to go back to pre-spy update when everyone became super paranoid because of the Cloak and Dagger....

OT: I don't mind buffs if they are justified (Something new to a different part of a game causing something else to be a bit "Meh" or underpowered) but nerfs... they are just a pain because they require something to be buffed/changed to being overpowered then waiting ages for the developers to actually listen to the people playing the game and find out that the overpowered thing is actually there and not balanced then wait even longer for them to do something about it which you just know will be either gutting it to the point of uselessness or not change it enough so it is still overpowered/giving it a bigger buff at the same time.

Best way to show this is my time in World of Warcraft, I played it for about 4 years and it went from being every class having a(or some) classes it was stong against and weak against in vanilla (Barring the Warrior), then Rogues and Warlocks became really strong in TBC, and then in WotLK Rogues became awful against people with equal or better gear, Warlocks became really strong, Mages became 2 button facerollers, Paladins became 2 button facerollers, Hunters were fairly balanced (Provided they didn't go kite spec) Shamans (My main...) were always "Meh" warriors became a one spec wonder, and healing became rediculous (A priest with a sliver of mana could heal a tank specced warrior from about 1k health to 45k health in 3 seconds and then apply tons of absorb shields) I was still waiting for some balance again when I left (Yes I consider vanilla balanced even though warriors were overpowered they were not alot of them as they were not fun to level up) all the unbalance in that game can be blamed solely on changes made to classes that made some overpowered and made others "Meh" and a lack of nerfs to the overpowered classes and some QQ based nerfs to fairly balanced classes (Rogues, People QQ about being stunlocked and completely neglect the fact that anyone could WTFPWN them when they didn't stunlock or they used one of their many get out of crowd control affects)

They should nerf MW2, by making noobtubes and knives utterly useless, and camping should've been punished by instant death. That'd make the game more fun. Also, Marathon can kindly fuck off.

Actually, it'd be much better if they just closed the game servers for a LONG time to fix all the things that are horribly wrong and unbalanced in that game.

What?
I use the backburner, that is unfair. I don't have an airblast :(

First of all, Dead Ringer isn't crap, while it is harder to use than before, you can still do quite a bit if you know how to use it properly.

OT: Buffs and nerfs can be a good and a bad thing. Devs typically have to listen to the community to know what is overpowered or not, however, this can backfire if the devs listen to the wrong people. Having played C&C3 online for quite a while, devs need to find a group of people that knows what they're talking about and listen to them on what is OP or UP, while at the same time, their egos are not too inflated to have any kind of bias on their decisions.
