After a rather unsuccesfull google search, i thought i'd try to ask the escapist techies for some help.

So whenever i am downloading big files (usually games) from steam, although sometimes it happens from different download locations aswell, after a few minutes my internet connection completely drops, throughout the house, and i have to reset the router. Then after a few minutes it will crash again.

I can't find any logic to this problem, at first it seemed to happen when the download speed got above give or take 3.5mb/s so i put the limit on 3mb/s with no success, since i spend the last two days downloading the FEAR games with having to reset the router every once in a while.

Also tried switching download regions but that doesn't seem to have any affect either.

Hope any of y'all can help me with this, since the winter sales are all over the internet, i'll have a few more games to download.

Steam is a bandwidth hog. When the connection drops, does the icon in the taskbar notify you? Usually limiting the download speed to half in the steam settings did the trick for me (had to use NetLimiter before steam added this feature..).

Yep, i get a nice red X on my network icon. That is actually still there, but i think that is just a visual bug.

Right now i've got it limited to 2MB/s and set to Sweden as download location, seems to be running rather stable. But still, i got a Fibre wire connection of, I believe, 100mb. So you'd think stuff like this shouldn't even be happening.
