Ok I've owned the platinum edition of Neverwinter Nights 2 for a while now but haven't really done anything with it. I started it up once made a character then got bored in the long opening area. Haven't used it since then. Now I've reinstalled it to give it an actual shot and I'm wondering if there's any information I should know that will help me with this game. Thank you for your time and any advice you give me.

EDIT: Ok I'll just mention quickly that the platinum edition has the game and all expansions and I have heard amazing things about Mask of the Betrayer hence why I bought the game in the first place.. Also I do mean any advice like character builds or strategies or bugs still present that can seriously mess up a playthrough. Just anything that you would tell someone you knew if they were going to play it.

GET MODS. Seriously, that's the whole point of NWN. As for NWN2, I'm afraid I can't help you, since I only have the first one.

Speaking of Mods, I downloaded a few for NWN2 that would give me different character models, but I can't seem to get them to work. Does anyone know how to get those bloody things to work?

Uh. Well, do you want advice on a character build, or how to play the game better, or what? Not sure how to help you... I have played through the game many times and have a ton of character builds I could suggest to you if that's what you want. Or if you don't understand D&D I can give you some tips on that.

What I will say is that NWN2 itself is hit and miss but the expansion pack Mask Of The Betrayer is REALLY good. So if you have that, stick with the original campaign because it's worth it.

(Storm of Zehir is good as well)
Just any tips that could help although I haven't played any D&D games before. The only game I would considering mentioning is KOTOR because apparently it was based off some form of D&D from what I've heard. Also the platinum edition has the expansions too but I edited it it there in case anyone else asked. Though I did know that mask of the betrayer was the best part from many people telling me in the past. I think I'll add that in my original post as well just because.

I'd recommend this to get a good picture of how to build your character in advance:

Also, Kaedrin's class pack adds a RIDICULOUS amount of classes to the game (click the option in the link above to get an idea of how many), but you probably want to try out a few of the original ones before messing around with those.

For first-timers I'd suggest going for a combat oriented class (preferably a basic fighter).

Myself, I liked playing a combat-based bard with disabling magic.

Oh, and the beginning of the original campaign is incredibly boring, but stick with it and it gets a lot better.

This is all you need to know.

Oh and don't turn the view distance up...It doesn't have different LOD, so it can take quite a lot of power.
