As a long time member of this community I would first like to take a moment to offer my sincerest welcome to all the new members to this site. We hope you stick around to add some intelligent discussion to all manner of topics on this site (and not just Zynga MM threads). There is a lot of content that this site offers for both gamer and non-gamer alike. Please look through the video library at some of the pieces that this site regularly offers, browse through the news segments, and take a look at some forum games.

Now to the main points of this thread. To those of you that have made new accounts to make posts and vote on the March Mayhem please read posting guidelines. Those that have been on the site a while can review them as well. I am tired of reading posts that consist of only "IW yay!!!" and "Zynga!" Please add some constructive discussion to your posts. This community with the exception of a few rare members are happy to see new faces, but only when those faces have something to say. Avoid personal attacks as well. Attacking other members of the community is a quick way to find yourself suspended.

Now before I make my final point I just want to say again to those that have just joined and plan to stay around a while, we welcome you to our community. I now ask for a response from one of the workers on this great site. Would it be possible to get a rate of active accounts in the coming months compared to the amount of new accounts? I find it troubling that we see a huge influx around March Mayhem and then hundreds of accounts that are never touched. If we want this community growing we need to promote other aspects of the site within March Mayhem so that more of those that come to vote will stay to share in all aspects this site brings.

If you were to promotes a video series, column, or other aspect of the site to the newcomers what would it be? As suggestions come in I will make a poll out of it so we can see what portions of this site we want shared.

Sorry that this fell on it's face a little man, but I'll validate it's existence by commenting now. I have seen a lot of spam from the zynga fans mainly, so that may be an issue. I really don't want to see them beating other more respectable developers, but the sheer volume of mainstream voters may cause some issues.

What a nice post :)
I am a new member, well i was introduced by the boyfriend last year but have only just started posting, and although i am not a major gamer i have found many interesting posts which are not just about games but politics, religion and general discussion.
I have also found this site to be quite welcoming to new members (and i have been on some sites which are not) so as long as i continue to post constructive/interesting posts i am glad i shall be welcomed :

p.s. Zynga!!!

That one little company that has massively popular Facebook games, some of them seemingly ripped off from others (there was an article a while back about it). See Mafia Wars and Farmville.

Hear hear! We had this problem last year, but at least then the people who were spamming us left soon after MM ended, and those who stayed developed into well known and respctable community members. And last year, at least Turbine had good reason to win, i.e. they were a proper developer who make good games that are well liked by many actual gamers (as opposed to people who just enjoy Facebook apps). Sadly, it seems that Zynga, this year, will end up winning just because they can spam Facebook. I'm surprised that the site that reported news about Zynga's CEO admitting to being a scammer would allow such a company to take part in an event like this, to be honest. But there's no point complaining about it to Spinwhiz, alas, as he simply says that there is "good reason" for them to be included. Huh. As if.

But yes, I agree with your point and post, OP, despite my unfortunate trailing off... Welcome to all those new faces (provided such faces aren't spammers or anything), and I hope to see you all in the forums in the near future and beyond March Mayhem :D.
