You may insert your own Anti-Copyright sentence in place of the howling wind that escapes my mouth reading this.

Government needs to keep their greedy, vile, prehistoric hands out of the internet. Honestly, do they have nothing better to do? Isn't their prison system full enough already that you're gonna throw people who watch TV online into jail for 5 years?

The law only applies to those who send the videos, not to those who only watch the videos.

I actually don't see much wrong with this. Sure, it could harm Youtube, but it also says that those not working to achieve financial gain have nothing to fear, and I can get behind that. Piracy for money is most definitely wrong.

First, someone who uses a VPN can evade being caught. So, it won't do much to YouTube, as posters will just use VPNs to hide their IP addresses.

However, if you choose to do this, be sure that you clear all the cookies out of your browser after, sinc your YouTube login is also your Google login.

If those who stream, without looking for profit, will not be persecuted under this new law then this bill sounds a little tiny bit more understandable. Then again, what is "for profit" is going to have to be decided by courts. So, not only will they be wasting massive amounts of time, but also massive amounts of money hearing and trying the various cases. I watch a lot of shows online, especially My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, as I'm sure a lot of people here do. Will this make me a lawbreaker? What about the person that uploaded the episodes to Youtube? Will either of us go to jail simply for watching or uploading a television show? I'm trying to be understanding, but at this point it seems impossible.

Edit:

Wait, soooo... its illegal for the viewer or the person hosting the streamed video?
As far as I understand, the law only applies to those who upload copyrighted material for profit. Like I said though, the law is extremely grey, and some innocent people could possibly go to jail for this.

I wonder if this will harm people streaming their screen as they play videogames?

Does anyone watch streams of stuff anyway?
I surely don't.
I watch a large amount of ranked high ELO games for LoL and there are a fair few other people out there that do aswell. A lot of you are talkking about youtube but I don't think that would count as streaming for proffit would it? Because the people that are uploading it and showing it to the public aren't making any money out of it, if I'm wrong then please say so that's just how this seems to read.

Ya but if it doesn't get overturned how long before that extension is made.
