New Blazblue: Specualtion time

So a new Blazblue, Blazblue: Central Fiction, has been announced for Japanese location tests so I would like to share some thoughts and hear what people think

-New normals and specials with Ragna getting a slam, Rachel having a new deployable and various other additions
-Naoto Kurogane (real original guys) looks like a blade less Ragna for some reason
-Hibiki seems to share some of Leo Whitefang's moves, does this mean similar plays style

Anyway, I assume this isn't a cash in sequel, right? This is the final chapter of the story?

If so, I'm excited!

I JUST FUCKING BOUGHT CPEX FUCKING HELL ARC SYSTEM WORKS AHSIOAHCIOASCJAOIEGJOIDFJSDOCIJDSOCIJ

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be it, but ASW have a penchant for milking Guilty Gear and BlazBlue even more than Capcom milks Street Fighter. It hurts. Pretty sure there's a shitton of extra story material for BB that generally doesn't make it over here that could better explain who the hell Naoto is. Apparently it was a couple of novels or something.

Naoto was in a light novel series called Bloodedge Experience [http://blazblue.wikia.com/wiki/BlazBlue:_Bloodedge_Experience_%E2%80%94_Part_1] which complicates the timeline a lot more as Valkenayn is there in his 20s along with Relius and Naoto gets a message from a character in the visual novel XBlaze: Code Embryo [http://blazblue.wikia.com/wiki/XBlaze_%E2%80%93_Code:_Embryo]

So yeah, the story is even more convoluted now

Also, all indications say that this is an actual sequel, not a remake like Chronophantasma Extend but i'm not sure if this is the last one.

As for Nine, I do wonder how she will play

I remember in an interview for CP the director of the series (his name escapes me) confirmed the next game would be the end of the story. Doesn't mean they won't reboot it or something later on though.

I stopped buying the cash-in games. I only really play for the story these days.

If it helps, this probably won't be on consoles for another year or two minimum.

To be honest I will still buy CP Extend since I do want to stay competitive with the game and so I need to learn the new combos

Sadly, my main Terumi has been nerfed to the ground so Jin will be my new main.

Also gotta add, I am a HUGE fan of the new character portraits. They looks sexy as hell!

EDIT: Also also, since the subtitles of the games typically represent a mechanic in the story I am calling it right now! "Central Fiction" is probably in reference to Amaterasu's dream. More specifically, it is probably referencing the original timeline or some kind of anchor that's keeping the dreaming god trapped in her own mind.

The whole point of the continuum shift (pretty much the entire focus of the Continuum Shift series of games) is that there are tons of timelines where events occurred or can occur differently from each other following the breaking of the static Calamity Trigger timeline in which Ragna always becomes the Black Beast at a set date. Like one specific timeline occurring in which we're shown how Jin becomes Hakumen, and it's pretty much why there are tons of different story endings in that game and branching paths.

I'm just going by mostly what I've seen in the main series games, though, not extra story material or the XBlaze stuff. Everything that caused all this timeline mindfuckery could have come long after anything around XBlaze came to pass.

From what I read, Naoto was made a vampire servant of the Alucard in a time shortly after XBlaze so that would explain why he's here

As for the powers, it's not the azure but his own blood. According to the wiki, his arm was cut off in an incident and was bitten by a vampire named Raquel to save his life. He got an arm made from Raquel's blood and refined by Clovis and gained the Bloodedge drive allowing him to manipulate his blood into weapons.

Yeah, this is still convoluted

No, the story doesn't make sense

If anything, it has gotten more convoluted due to games like XBlaze and LNs like Bloodedge Experience that are canon

My only problem is that some dead characters are in this game, hopefully it's just for the roster and not the story mode, I don't want it to turn into Bleach.

Given the timeline warping i've seen in this game, I bet it's not just for the roster

My speculation is that they will release one version, release a bunch of DLC for that version and then release a version with all that DLC included that I will then buy.

My only problem is that some dead characters are in this game, hopefully it's just for the roster and not the story mode, I don't want it to turn into Bleach.

I honestly think that fighting games should be exempted from final character death, because the characters are literally the entire game. If a dead character inexplicably showing up in the story makes for a better game, then go for it.

Although, if they want to tell a story in a dedicated "Story" mode, then they could leave those characters out of that. They should still appear in arcade mode though.

I hope Nine finally shows up as a playable character I have wanted her and Jubei in for ages. I didnt get Chrono Extend its the first one I have skipped and now they have announced a new one already I probably never will.

O kinda wish they would give it the GG Xrd treatment in visuals now rather than keep going but whatever. I may get the new one almost definite if Nine is in it but I have been pretty much buying the games for Makoto because I love that character but as for the games themselves I still cant get arc games to click for me. Doent mean I dont enjoy them but I prefer Persona Arena and the GG franchise to BB personally, except they dont have Makoto which is a negative.

If you want to get the full story there's 2 series of books, a manga and the Xblaze visual novel ps3/vita games on top of the story of the BB games themselves that you need to go into. And some of these are only in JP too. And make even less sense.


It's still fun though!
