What are your impressions? I've never really played a Castlevania game since NES but this one looks pretty sweet judging by screenshots and videos. That combined with the fact that Hideo Kojima has a major role in it is making me seriously consider picking it up. However, I am a little apprehensive about just how hack and slash it is. Don't get me wrong, I loved Ninja Gaiden, but if it's just mashing without skill I will be disappointed.

I'm getting it tomorrow when it comes out.

So yeah, I'm excited for it.

Plus, it's got Patrick Stewart in it.

That alone should make you want to buy it.

At first, I was raging a bit because apparently it was alluding to be the first in the timeline, and even alluding at Dracula being in the game, which wouldn't make any freaking sense...but then I learned it was its own seperate reboot/timeline thing, so then I was fine with it....and then I realized I didn't have anything that could play it.

I thought it looked interesting and have kept an eye on it since it was announced, then the other day I played the demo and I loved it.
The combat is similar to God of War (no bad thing), but the art style and story are much more interesting to me.
As an extra bonus it's got Patrick Stewart and Robert Carlyle in it, which instantly earns it big points in my books.
So yeah, I'm looking foward to it and will probably buy it on day one.

It's gonna be an interactive movie (thanks Kojima) just like MGS4 lol. So if you're looking to watch a Van Helsing movie that let's you take over now and then, I say go for it.
I'm not saying it's gonna be bad, but Kojima can be a little long winded.

Why is it that every 3D action adventure hack-n-slash always compared back to God of War??

If anything God of War is a more western version of Devil May Cry, which came out in 2001 while God of War came out in 2005. Heck, even the first 3D Castlevania, Lament of Innocence(oops forgot about Castlevania 64), came out in 2003 and pretty much follows the same flow as the other hack-n-slash style games.

Not everything is a GoW clone =S

Because your main weapon is a chain sword pretty much. Same "epic" boss battles. Same system for leveling up.

Ah, so there IS a demo but it's for PS+. Hmm, this is the first time I regret not having PS+. I do have one question though. Does the demo allow any moving of the camera with the R stick? Cause in GOW that kind of pissed me off.

Here are a couple reasons:

God of War is commercially successful, well-known, and generally an excellent game. It's a solid reference point even for people who would never touch Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden or Lament of Innocence.

Many, many third-person action games since 2005 have attempted to be like God of War. Do your defensive options include block, dodge and parry? Are you graded on number of hits instead of style points? Are you in a pseudo-historical setting with a Serious Grim Storyline and random puzzles thrown in? Are your ranged attacks a finite resource? Then you are probably looking to GoW, not DMC, for inspiration.

You have no control over the camera, very similar to GoW, but it didn't seem too bad at all in the demo.

You can download the demo by making a EU account, log it in, then download it from the PSN, you don't need PS+.

It's a title I'll be happy to buy full price even though I'm expecting to be disappointed, only other games that I have that attitude towards was the Kane and Lynch games. I loved Symphony of the Night, and think that this new one looks amazing, apparently it has a good 18-20 hours in it. Which I'm content with even if I bought Symphony of the Night of XBLA for summin like £6 and have played that for... at least 46 hours :/ (It didn't feel like it)

How do you create an EU account?

It has SIR PATRICK FUCKING STEWART in it. Of course I'm getting it.

I have it pre-ordered for Limited Edition on Amazon already.

You just make a new account to log in to, on the XMB it's on the far left. Then you have to create an account and username for the UK. The only difficult part is to google an address somewhere in the UK (I used Google Earth and found one over there pretty easily).

I downloaded the demo and I don't have PS+, so it's out for everyone now.
As for the camera, you can't control it, and I expect that it will no doubt be a bit irritating at times, but I'm willing to put up with it.

I'm getting it, but it still sucks that it's more like God of War and less like Lament of Innocence, which was a really good 3D Castlevania and seemed like a step in the right direction.

This one looks like it'll be a fun action game, but doesn't look like it'll have much "Castlevania" to it.
