Thing with Laptops is that cheap ones die, all the fucking time.

If you're buying a laptop, it is much much much better to get a non-budget model, as they live much longer, and are much more reliable.

HP Pavillion. The lady I'm typing on now has 4 gigs of RAM, a 9600 series card and a 2GHZ dual core. Oh, and about 320 Gigs of HD space, which is more than enough.

Something that runs Farcry 2 on all High specs and yet only costs £780 GBP....beauty. Got it from John Lewis's. Costs a tad more, but it's got an automatic 2-year warranty.

Do some quick online price comparisons of laptops from newegg and tigerdirect and major retailers like bestbuy, compusa, etc. Then go to Circuit City and see if they haven't run out of laptops yet. In the end, go with average to high perephrials with moderate to low pricing. It will depend on what you are going to be doing with it. I have a mac notebook for my music and visual stuff.
