I do not know much about it but here is the brief wiki description:

CryEngine (unversioned)

On August 21, 2013 CryTek announced that their next CryEngine would not carry any version number. The reason for this decision was the fact that this new engine bears almost no similarity to previous CryEngine versions. The new CryEngine supports next-gen platforms such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U.

And the citation: http://uk.gamespot.com/gamescom/new-cryengine-revealed-6413371/ - Which oddly enough drops Ryse a couple of times despite running off of CryEngine 3. If I were to guess I would assume some of the technology in the new CryEngine is being ported over into CryEngine 3 to be used in the first wave of the 8th generation releases before the new one is fully complete.

What do you all personally think?

Not exacly a new engine, therefore the fact that they show Ryse and Crysis 3 footage. Its basicly CryEngine 3 but like they said, they changed it so much from what it was at start (Crysis 2 for example) that you could call it a new engine.

Basicly instead of a brand new engine from scratch they just keep on adding tools and functionalities that make it on par with what a brand new engine would offer. Its still good and impressive.

I would have liked to see them show a bit of a more realistic depiction of an enviorment to see the range of what the engine can offer, Ryse is very "Hollywood" like, the FOX engine for example does simulate light very well although it does seem a lot more complicated to work with while the Unreal Engine still looks very gamey in comparision, the light looks very fake in comparision.

Really digging the Snowdrop engine from The Division even though the trailer for the game is all they ever released related to it.
